Embracing authenticity with d-beat hardcore act SEANALDINHO

1 min read

Amidst the raucous, unapologetic realms of d-beat, crust punk, and stoner metal, Seanaldinho from North Carolina emerges as a harbinger of a profound, introspective odyssey.

His latest work, “Bastoni,” released on the indie label Mindpower Records, transcends the traditional boundaries of an EP. It’s a manifesto, a philosophical exploration set against a backdrop of relentless, yet quite accessible soundscapes.

Crafted by the hands and heart of Sean, the mind behind Seanaldinho, “Bastoni” comes as a cerebral journey.

Sean delves into the symbolism of the Sicilian tarocchi, finding in the ‘Bastoni‘ suit not just a nod to his heritage, but a metaphor for his artistic evolution.

“Bastoni is the club in a deck of tarocchi siciliani,” Sean muses, “it represented my heritage, my innate vigor. But as the songs took shape, it morphed into a clarion call for authenticity, for the courage to be unabashedly oneself.”

“Bastoni,” as Sean explains, is more than just a title; it’s a symbol derived from Sicilian playing cards, embodying his heritage, strength, and aggression. Yet, as the EP’s creation unfolded, its meaning transformed. “Bastoni had taken on a clearer meaning to me: to be brave and be yourself,” Sean reflects.

This evolution of thought is not just the backbone of the EP but a testament to Sean’s personal journey towards self-acceptance and defiance against conformity.

Sean’s introspection reveals a struggle familiar to many artists – the battle against self-imposed norms.

He candidly discusses the moments of self-doubt, where the fear of deviating from traditional ‘dbeat’ patterns or incorporating unconventional influences like hip-hop icons Nas and Action Bronson loomed large.

“I was prejudging myself for straying from the landscape as it looks today,” he admits. This realization sparked a transformation, leading Sean to embrace his uniqueness and shrug off societal expectations. “The reality is that no one is staring at you or judging you. No one cares,” he asserts, encouraging artists to boldly carve their path.

The track “Road Rash” encapsulates this ethos of self-challenge and resilience. It’s a narrative about facing tough situations to unearth inner strength and confidence. “It takes putting yourself in tough situations to find that answer, and it takes bravery to do that,” Sean states.

This concept of delving into the darkness to find one’s light is a recurring theme in “Bastoni,” urging listeners to confront their fears and discover their inherent capabilities.

Bastoni,” as an artistic creation, stands as a beacon for the highest form of living – being brave and being yourself. It emphasizes the importance of internal confidence, hope, and compassion, not just for oneself but for others. As Sean eloquently puts it, “So long as your passion keeps the flame burning, your human spirit will always triumph.”

Out now on Mindpower Records, “Bastoni” is an invitation to embark on a journey of self-discovery and bravery, a journey where one is encouraged to stand tall against the tides of conformity and to embrace their true self.
