“Goblin punk” rockers FRIEND premiere new video for “Bored To Death”

1 min read

The underground music currents are buzzing as Philadelphia’s own DIY trailblazers, Friend, drop the official video for “Bored To Death” from their anticipated third album, “DOG EAT DOG.” This latest visual offering premieres exclusively here, bringing to life the song’s candid introspection.

The track explores the inertia of self-improvement — the tug-of-war between the desire for change and the stubbornness that halts progress.

With “Bored To Death” Friend captures the essence of this struggle through a collision of raw lyrics and buoyant indie rock tunes, making it an anthem for the restless spirit.

“DOG EAT DOG” is the newest creation from the self-described “goblin punk” band.

The album embodies the group’s unique sound, infusing the distorted intensity of late 90s and early 2000s post-punk with a sense of yearning.

Paying homage to their influences, which range from The Drums to Joy Division, the band crafts a sonic mosaic that is both a nod to their heroes and a stamp of their own identity.

Set to be the first release under the banner of Born Losers Records, “DOG EAT DOG” promises to be a pivotal addition to Friend’s discography and a fresh taste of Philadelphia’s rich musical landscape when it drops on February 2nd, 2024.
