Chicago hardcore band LIFE’S QUESTION are teasing their first full-length on Triple B Records with new promo release below.
Check out their three new songs, “For You,” “A Prayer For My Old Man,” and “Rotting from the Head Down,” below.
Comments Stereogum: “Chicago hardcore warriors Life’s Question haven’t released a full-length album yet, but they’ve already figured out a supremely potent sound, a metallic growl with a whole lot of guitar heroics and a serious sense of bounce. Since shows have started happening again, Life’s Question have also proven to be serious road warriors, willing to truck across the country for a couple of VFW Hall shows. And now that they’re getting read to release their full-length debut, Life’s Question are really getting ready to show what they can do.”
BOYSETSFIRE’s legend Nathan Gray have released his third solo album called “Rebel Songs”, teased in our interview and FUGAZI tribute special HERE.
t’s no longer enough to just fight with yourself. On his third solo album, BOYSETSFIRE singer NATHAN GRAY sounds more political than he ever has since his band’s very first records while at the same time recognizing that no protest can bring change without the people behind it. “Rebel Songs” transforms this realization into twelve tracks full of changeability that not only spread a spirit of optimism through their lyrical character, but also convey a sense of “we” stronger than ever through the involvement of numerous guests – most notably in the title track, which features TIM MCILRATH from RISE AGAINST. Nathan Gray also weaves in other exciting collaborators on a record that repeatedly brings up what are for the singer unusually snappy influences from archetypal punk heroes like The Clash or heartland rock in the style of The Hold Steady while at the same time daring to conduct many new experiments quite apart from any cherished structures.

Lisbon based hardcore / grindcore label ragingplanet has shared the recent EP from Porto grindviolence metallic hardcore pack BORF!
Borf deliver a furious mix of vicious metal/hardcore that can be classified somewhere between bands like Kickback, For The Glory but also compared with APMD or Candy. They combine different classic elements of bleak 2000’s Metalcore and slashing Grindcore with heavy drumming, biting vocals and nasty distorted riffings. This brutal S/T Record brings you 7 merciless punches in the face straight from Porto, Portugal.
Portuguese hardcore band DEVIL IN ME (just interviewed for IDIOTEQ HERE) have shared another heavy banger from their upcoming new LP calle “On The Grind.”

The latest pressing of GORILLA BISCUITS’ iconic album “Start Today” is available now on opaque yellow vinyl via Revelation Records.
Gorilla Biscuits’ “Start Today” is one of the most influential records in hardcore. Hailing from NYC, Gorilla Biscuits carved a niche within the NY hardcore scene. Blending the aggression and energy of bands like Agnostic Front with a sense of melody likened to Dag Nasty, Gorilla Biscuits still stands as a unique reference point for many hardcore bands that have come after them.
Chaotic hardcore band DEAF CLUB have premiered their new video for the song “Shoplift From Jail”!

Denver, Colorado based progressive ,etalcore outlet COLONY COLLAPSE have dropped their new single “Empty Mirror”. For fans of: Periphery, Born of Osiris, Invent Animate, Reflections.
Vocalist Noah Khorey commented on the concept of the song: “Empty mirror explains how personal experiences of abuse have led to a negative view of oneself that leads to a constant ebb and flow of suicidal ideation. Falling out of love with self-loathing is the only way to truly move on from the past.”
Colony Collapse is where ferocious metal collides with soaring melody. Sacrificing their former lives, the band relocated to Denver, Colorado, where years of creative fixation led to the dynamic and compelling sound of Colony Collapse. Aiming to captivate listeners with enthralling waves of savagery and grace, it’s been the band’s goal to cut through the drivel of modern metal.

German indie post punk act METER have premiered their new single and music video called “Schnaps”.
The track comes from their new captivating EP “Pascal”.
Comments the band: “Anger. What makes you angry? Are you being lied to, laughed at, marginalized? Are you insulted, patronized, muzzled? Are they not listening to you? Don’t they let you go? Don’t they let you out? Do they lock you in? Do they shut you out? Do you know what has happened? Do you know what’s going to happen? Are you living in the moment? Have you forgotten why you’re angry? Forget why you’re angry. Be angry.”
Finland’s d-beat hardcore punk band KÜRØISHI have joined us for a special first listening party of their third album “Käärme sisälläsi, myrkyttää maailmani”, available now via Break The Records (Japan, CD), and a follow up vinyl release Fight Records (Finland, vinyl) and SPHC Records (North America, vinyl).
Zegema Beach Records has shared Scordatura Perforations by NEW GRASS, a captivating post hardcore / post rock offering from an underground act from Illinois.
Comments the label: “Intense and gorgeous, postrock tinged emoviolence? I dunno. What do you want from me? My screamo fortune, of course. We’re drifting. I love everything about this record. It uniquely checks so many boxes for me. I hear a lot of Capsule and Daitro, some My Bloody Valentine in the guitars, with a tone just clean enough to really feel the urgency. There’s a couple basslines in here that steal the show. But then the vocals have some Itto in them. I hear some IDLES, Bear vs Shark and Self Defense Family too strangely enough. Shifting wildly between sullen and manic, you can’t tell if you’re chasing someone or being chased. An experience we all obviously crave.”

Sometimes those steps sideways are the most impactful. Former Yellowcard vocalist and rhythm guitarist WILLIAM RYAN KEY continues to challenge not only his fans but also himself with a slight right turn for his third solo EP EVERYTHING EXCEPT DESIRE (release date: February 11, 2022). Propelling him further into uncharted musical territory with a more experimental sound, this EP also marks a new beginning for the multi-instrumentalist: he has inked a new recording deal with seminal independent label Rude Records/Equal Vision Records.
“Ever since I started making my own music, I think I’ve been searching for what became Everything Except Desire,” says Key about the new EP. Textured with multi-layered soundscapes that incorporate pastoral washes of piano, strings and synths, the music from Everything Except Desire evokes emotions through complex song structures that shows Key’s passion for experimentation.
Canadian punk rock vets DAYGLO ABORTIONS have released their new single “World of Hate” from their upcoming album “Hate Speech” and premiere via Moshville Times and you can stream it via Bandcamp below.
Murray “The Cretin” Acton commented: “You might not realize it listening to this song, but I have learned how to process my anger as it happens. I don’t hold on to it. I am not interested in revenge when I’ve been wronged because You need to keep the anger alive for that. I just want to let it go. Because when it’s gone there is no residual poison lurking in my subconscious waiting to transform into real hatred. Hatred can also be spawned by fear and sure, there’s lot’s of things I’m afraid of but again, as long as I process it, I can get beyond it. What’s my secret you ask? I write music. I make songs that ridicule the things I am afraid of, and the things that fuck me around. It works really good, I have a pile of self therapy songs, and I write new ones all the time. You should try it. It’s really important if you want to be healthy and happy, you gotta loose the hatred. Don’t even say the word.”

MODERN LIFE IS WAR have released “TRIBULATION WORKSONGS VOL. 3“, the newest addition to their series of releases, recorded by Luke Tweedy at Flat Black Studios and mixed by Kurt Ballou at God City Studios.
Aiming to be as hand built as possible, the lyrics/credits of each song were typed by vocalist/lyricist Jeff Eaton on his 1950’s Royal “Quiet De Luxe” typewriter. These were later hand stamped on the front and back covers by artist Jacob Bannon, making each cover totally unique. The labels of the vinyl were also hand stamped before final assembly by the people at Deathwish.
As we approach the end of another year, Beijing melodic post hardcore rockers LIFE AWAITS hands over a brand-new treat for the heavy groove lovers through their new single ‘Unchained‘, ending the year with a literal banger!
Bringing together beastly, brutal screams and catchy, clean melodies, the quartet express their take on modern metalcore. The lyric video for ‘Unchained’ is now exclusively premiering through Dreambound YouTube channel, and the track is released worldwide via Famined Records.
Vocalist Bai Yu share the inspiration and meaning behind the lyrics of the new single: “The song is about some of our feelings living in the current world and how we’re trying to find peace in ourselves. Lots of things we see on the news or social media are spreading negative energies. No different opinions allowed, saying meanest things to a stranger on the internet, doing stupid things on tiktok to get other’s attention, things like that. It just seems like many of us are struggling with something in some way.”
Multi style hardcore punks LA ARMADA have shared their new single “Le Fe No Abasta”. The video for the single was directed by Jamezz Hampton.

Outside Language by GIRL ARM has been made available for streaming via Zegema Beach Records.
“Originally released digitally in 2012, Zegema Beach Records fell in love and asked for some tapes, to which the band agreed. So in 2018 we made 33 tapes, and now at the tail-end of 2021 we want to remind you again about one of the best Canadian math-rock albums of the last decade. Mixing equal parts jangly North Of America with the sassiness of For The Mathematics (p.s. same drummer!) these 8 tunes are as fun as they are jarring. Definitely influenced by Faraquet and At The Drive In. Girl Arm has since changed their band name to WORKS. We also updated the digital release with an unreleased live track!” – comments the label.

The dates for the RANCID guitarist and frontman of THE OLD FIRM CASUALS start on March 29th in Scottsdale, AZ and will see Frederiksen hit the west coast, midwest, and east coast alongside Joe Sib, DJ Cris Powerhouse, and Boss Hooligan Soundsystem.
This solo venture for Frederiksen started back on March 7th, 2020 when he sold out the landmark Oakland club Eli’s Mile High Club. Frederiksen performed a Billy Bragg-esque set. The lucky fans attending the show [which was supposed to be the first of many, including an appearance alongside Dropkick Murphys on St. Patrick’s Day in Boston] had no idea that they would be the only ones to witness this unbelievable performance for quite some time…until now!
The surreal performance was treasured by the lucky few who got to see it, and has given Lars even more confidence and validation to pursue this venture.
“So much happened in my life starting in 2018 and is just now sorta wrapping up here currently in 2021. This entire period, especially during my mom’s passing, was a great reflection point for me and a time to dive deeper than I’ve ever been into my Pagan roots,” remarks Frederiksen.
Catch Frederiksen live in 2022 has he plays songs from his acclaimed debut solo EP and see what all the hype is about!
“There will be more to come ’cause I’m not done yet. I don’t think I’ll ever be. As long as I have breath I’ll unapologetically use my voice,” he adds.

Legendary Belfast, Ireland based instrumental outfit And So I Watch You From Afar has shared “I Dive Pt1” & “II Dive Pt2”, and announced their ambitious upcoming multimedia album Jettison. The latest offering from the group will be available on February 18th, 2022 via Equal Vision Records in partnership with Velocity Records.
Through 40 minutes of sonic exploration spread across nine distinct parts and a visual accompaniment by artist Sam Wiehl, Jettison traverses the various shades of ASIWYFA’s euphoric instrumental output. The Arco String Quartet adds moments of ethereal elegance, juxtaposed against cryptic dialogue by Emma Ruth Rundle and Neil Fallon throughout the album, which is available for pre-order here.
Peaceful opening piano chords and orchestral stirrings punctuate “I Dive Pt1” before the lift-off commences on “II Dive Pt2″, where guitarists Rory Friers and Niall Kennedy are joined by their compatriots Chris Wee on drums and Johnny Adger on bass. “I Dive Pt1” introduces a mesmerizing spoken word element courtesy of Emma Ruth Rundle, while “II Dive Pt2” offers the listener a more straightforward (albeit brilliantly nuanced) version of the bands serpentine arrangement styles and esoteric melodic sensibility.
GREEN DAY have shared a short clip of them recording music at London’s RAK Studios, set to what could be a new song.

Get your tickets HERE.
Three-time Grammy-nominated hard rock heavyweights Killswitch Engage, recognized by Forbes as “one of modern metal’s most cherished acts,” have a lot going into the new year.
Many fans recall the band’s powerful streaming event performance, which originally aired last summer from The Palladium in Worcester, MA, home to so many memorable and iconic KsE shows throughout the band’s two-decade history. Directed by David Brodsky and Allison Woest for MyGoodEye, the performance found KsE performing 2019’s Atonement in full, along with the 2000-released self-titled album in full — with some surprises along the way.
THE OKLAHOMA KID – a modern metal experience. Known for their very own blend of genres, the avant-garde 5-piece never falls shy of pushing the boundaries and breaking old conventions.
The first single ‘Pale Tongue’ takes everyone on a disturbing trip with psychedelic visuals and heavy rhythms and is deeply influenced by early millennial industrial music and neue deutsche Härte. Therefore, the band met up with Pavel Trebukhin (Imminence, Landmvrks, Annisokay) inside a bunker to create a striking visual experience for their first single from the upcoming material.
‘Pale Tongue’ was recorded and produced by Jan Kerscher (Ghost City Recordings) – mixed and mastered by Lance Prenc (Alpha Wolf, Polaris, Dealer).
Harsh noise project SELMAN has shared “eureka, never had one”, a rumbling and toxic alchemy of harsh noise, oscillators and earsplitting feedback. Selman generates an impenetrable force field of MASSIVE sound. Please listen to sitting down or curled up in a ball. This is a hearty dose of experimental noise. Not for the weak.
Melodic hardcore metal band THROUGH THE NOISE have shared their new video for the song “Aktaion“, coming from their new EP that drops January 21st.
All three songs on Tragedies were influenced by and named after the characters of classic Greek myths. “Tantalus” is an interpretation of the classic myth of Tantalus and Tantalean punishments when one has good things but are not allowed to enjoy them. “Aktaion” is a classic grass is always greener on the other side of the fence story about venturing into the unknown and suffering horrible consequences. Aktaion was a skillful hunter and follower of Artemis, goddess of hunting and chastity. One day he wanders into a forbidden forest and stumbled upon a naked Artemis bathing in a pond. She is filled with rage and transforms Artemis into a stag (only his mind remains human) and when he tries to run away, his hunting hounds chase him down and tear him apart into pieces. The final track “Lamia” is an interpretation of the classic, Greek myth about a woman driven insane by horrible grief due to the loss of her children, which turned her into a child-devouring monstrosity.
BEHEMOTH have shared final live video from “In Absentia Dei,”, out now! The show was said to set a new standard for streaming events in the future and this was something Behemoth set out to achieve from the start. Produced by Grupa 13, In Absentia Dei was presented as a show of four parts, woven with high-production theatrics and even a hellish flames emanating from all parts of the sacred building.
When Poland’s metal masters BEHEMOTH unleashed their livestream upon the world in 2020, they raised the bar to a new level, with one of the most ambitious, incendious, and blasphemic broadcasted shows throughout the pandemic. Never before had anyone tried to bring such a cinematic happening into one massive show that took place in an abandoned church in rural Poland, right during the darkest times of the pandemic lockdown. A year since the show’s premiere, In Absentia Dei is still as epic as it was in September 2020 and returns in a range of deluxe formats for fans to relive the heretic chef d’oeuvre that took place on that fateful night.
“In Absentia Dei — one of two pandemic endeavors that we managed to accomplish,” the band’s Nergal states. “We set the bar so high and you were right there with us, legions. You can now recreate the magic of that night whilst we wait to reunite in person! Get your copy and join us, the lord shall not be present…”

They paved the way for our band and for many others like ours and were pioneers of a whole new sound. We have talked for a long time about recording a tribute to Linkin Park – especially since the tragic loss of Chester. Texas/ Ohio’s alt punk / noise rock band EL NO, who released their debut LP, Nothing Is Possible, on April 1, 2021, have announced the album’s follow up, Hoodlums. Offering a little more focus and hocus pocus on this one, the group boasts that it is heavy on mid-80s “hood culture” energy.
Nothing Is Possible garnered attention from The Big Takeover, New Noise Magazine, OffShelf, The Bad Copy, etc. establishing them as weirdos to watch.
Born and raised during the apocalypse of 2020, El No began as a collaboration between Nate Farley (Guided By Voices, The Amps, Robthebank, The Breeders) and Craig Nichols (Bellringer, Fur Coats, Dumbell, Shesus). With roots in the Dayton, Ohio, music scene, they are now both ex-pats living in Columbus, Ohio, and Austin, Texas, respectively. For Hoodlums, the group has expanded their ranks and are now a four piece with the addition of Ohioans Jamy Holliday and Duane Hart.
El No is tentatively scheduled to drop Hoodlums via Howdy Mouse Records in April 2022 and is preparing to do some touring and festivals this year. They’ve also released a little preview of the album by way of “1000 Lows,” which you can listen to here.

Hegeroth’s music is black metal with both: traditional metal features and an openness to new experiences. Energy, rhythmics, clarity of musical message is enriched by diversity, variability and layering of melodic forms.
MEMPHIS MAY FIRE are closing out 2021 by sharing one more new song. The band has dropped “Left for Dead.” Watch the visualizer below.
Clearly, the quartet is ending the year on a sonic high note. “Left for Dead” is as gnarly as the band has ever been, but it also boasts seriously memorable melodics amid all of the maelstrom.
For much of 2021, MMF have been releasing new songs through their longtime label Rise Records. The band initially dropped a one-two punch with a pair of explosive songs — “Blood & Water” and “Death Inside.” The full-on riff fest “Bleed Me Dry” followed suit. “Blood & Water” became one the fastest growing hits of the band’s career. It was accompanied by a powerful video and cruised onto the SiriusXM Octane airwaves. Revolver called it a “return to form” and noted that the song boasted an “absurdly melodic lead lick that cuts through the chugging breakdowns like a hot knife on butter.” Meanwhile, “Death Inside” reminded fans of the band’s sonic heft. “Somebody” arrived in the fall and features all the sonic hallmarks fans know and love about MMF. All told, these four new tracks have accumulated nearly 24 million combined streams across platforms. Each song drop has had a philanthropic element and has been accompanied by a piece of charity-driven merch, available at the band’s online store.

NONPOINT will release their new EP titled RUTHLESS along with the premiere of the official music video for single “Back in the Game” on December 27, 2021.
With the roar of one word, “INDEPENDENCE,” Nonpoint has transcended the underground and taken their rightful place in metal history. Even now they continue to change the rules with their newest song “Back In The Game”, which keeps the Nonpoint tradition of inviting you in close, kicking you in the chest, then imprisoning an infectious lyric like, “Cause you’re looking at a one man death squad!” into your mind knowing it will never escape. This song and official video goes live across all streaming platforms December 27th at midnight along with the remaining songs from the Ruthless EP. This follows their independent label plan of delivering music to their fans through more frequent releases and videos from the band.
