Docs Till Death podcast, who joined us for two interesting featured lists, have shared their new episode, this time focused on the acclaimed BANE documentary “Holding These Moments”.

“Bane, Bane, they’re good for your heart / The more you listen, the more you understand that they were an influence for Have Heart” That’s right, DTD-ers!” – comments Docs Till Death.

“We’re beginning our episode description with that famous couplet, so you KNOW we’ve got something good in store for you. This week, we’re talking HOLDING THESE MOMENTS (2020), the recent BANE doc directed by Dan Elswick. It’s a fun, and unexpectedly touching, one. But fear not, friends, we deliver exactly what you’d expect — including Pete eating a hut dug, Geoff wearing a leather duster; and Matt analyzing verb tense usage. Put simply, it’s hardcore for the hardcore. So if you want your hardcore friends to continue to like and respect you, you’re gonna need to give this ep a listen, STAT!”

FUCK THE FACTS have shared their new track “Open Minded”, recorded for the Shallow North Dakota tribute, which will be released next month via NO LIST RECORDS & Learning Curve Records.

“We had a lot of fun giving this SND song the bastardized grindcore treatment, and even brought in our old friend Skot Hamilton (KEN mode, Adolyne) to lay down the bass for this one.” – comments the band.

“This is also the first song we’ve done that features a Mom-Dad-Daughter triple vocal attack! So it definitely holds a special place in my heart. As usual, we tracked & mixed at our very own Apartment 2 Recording studio, but got our good friend Scott Miller at Ancient Temple Recordings to handle the mastering. The comp features great bands all around, and it’s for a great cause, so check it out and support however you can. / Much love to all of you, and we’ll see you in 2022!”

Atmospheric black metal / shoegaze / screamo act SADNESS shared their stunningly beautiful new 2-tracker (clocking 26 minutes) via screamo label Larry Records. 25 tapes will drop this January.

Punk rock icon Henry Rollins exlained why he stopped making music during a recent appearance on producer Rick Rubin’s “Broken Record” podcast.

While the abundance of death metal is a plus in 2021, there is still plenty of room for some rock and roll. Today, UMBILICUS is introduced to the world. Featuring drummer and lyricist of CANNIBAL CORPSE, Paul Mazurkiewicz on drums, Taylor Nordberg (INHUMAN CONDITION, THE ABSENCE, FORE) on guitar, Vernon Blake (ANARCHUS, NAPALM DEAH [live]) on bass, and vocalist Brian Stephenson (FORE, OLD JAMES), the quartet has turned down the violence and gore, and turned up the peace and love.

Mazurkiewicz says: “UMBILICUS was formed in the summer of 2020 and driven by our love of rock and roll from the late 60’s, 70’s and early 80’s. I’ve been listening to well-known bands like Grand Funk, Bad Company and Steppenwolf and not-so-well-known bands like Sir Lord Baltimore and Lucifer’s Friend for the last 20 years or so now. The more I listened to these bands the more I wanted to play music like this. It is just so much fun to sit back and groove out and play by complete feel without beating my body down. To just play some pure hard rock! We composed 10 very cool songs throughout 2020 but the one piece of the puzzle was missing: an awesome voice to tie it all together. Enter Brian Stephenson! An amazing vocalist and lyricist that completed the lineup! I am so proud of what we have written and I can’t wait for the world to hear what we have to offer!”

The band is currently finishing up their debut album, yet-untitled, to be released in 2022. More details regarding track-listing, artwork, and release date will be announced soon. A teaser video is available below which features a short demo mix of a new song.

Two Minutes To Late Night podcast has shared the audio Bandcamp version of their recent cover of “Two Minutes To Late Night” by Bruce Springsteen, performed by THURSDAY and Jordan Olds aka Gwarsenio Hall, on keyboard.

“Our friends in Thursday have had to cancel their next few shows due to Covid-19, resulting in a loss of revenue for both themselves and their crew. All of the money from the sales of this single will be given to the band. Thanks for supporting.”

The Danish industrial noise collective, John Cxnnor, which also makes up half of LLNN (Pelagic Records), has joined forces Andreas Bjulver from the Copenhagen deathcore band CABAL (Nuclear Blast) with the new single “Drone Hunter”.

“Drone Hunter” is the epitome of crushing heavy industrial metal – inspired by the sonic and visual universe that envelops the Terminator franchise and other classic 80’s movies from that time.

A track that was brought to life in a workshop of a machinist with own sound recordings of hammer blows on iron, metal being bent and junk being crushed in massive hydraulic machines.

Earlier this year, John Cxnnor released their debut single ft. dark-folk artist THE DEVIL’S TRADE (Season Of Mist) titled “Dead Sister Merope”. Since then, the collective has released tracks with both CABAL, EYES and HIRAKI.

The blueprint for pop punk songwriting and recording Ben Weasel has returned with Screecing Weasel’s latest full length masterpiece Some Freaks Of Atavisim. Today we present to you and your earbuds a taste of punk rock ear and eye candy “Turn It Around” with Guest Vocalist the one and only Josie Cotton, along with the full audio release for review, more radio choice cuts and pure punk rawk enjoyment.

Inspired pop punk for a brand new decade, this single and full album are truly delicious but we’ll let your ears decide…

Helmed by acid-penned frontman Ben Weasel, Some Freaks of Atavism is inspired pop punk for a strange new decade. Smart, incisive, rocking (and of course) danceable as hell, the 14-tracks produced and engineered by Mike Kennerty came at the right time for many fans stuck at home during the rise of Covid-19. After canceling upcoming tour dates amid worldwide safety concerns, Weasel pushed the album’s release forward with gusto.

Chamber folk artist Noah Kite has shared his new album Drunk Lil Guy, a folk-pop innovation that expertly blends American folk, blues, jazz and folk influences and showcases his intriguing talent, just stretching out.

The new offering harbors deep appreciation for both the harmonic palette and the spirt of collectivism employed by fellow art/folk/pop auteurs Steely Dan, Fleet Foxes or Sufjan Stevens.

Check out our in-depth feature on his art at this location.

Tankcrimes label has posted their 2021 wrap-up:

Despise You “West Side Horizons” LP / CD / TAPE – this was a few years in the making as it was one of the releases that got shelved in 2020, I’m stoked we got it together this year because it’s such an incredible collection and important to the history and culture of underground punk and west coast Power Violence. 62 tracks that don’t fuck around. You can grab a “Cyan inside Clear” aka blue blob vinyl in our store or hit your local shop for a copy on Deep Purple vinyl we made available for retail only.

Trappist / Connoisseur “Cross Faded” split 12″ – 2 of the dopest contemporary bands influenced by the bands in our reissue catalog! This was another release put on hold in 2020 that we pressed forward with this year and WOW, it sold out really fast. I did not expect this record to be out of print already. A total ripper from front to back steeped in songs about our favorite drugs – beer and weed. You can probably find some straggler copies out at your favorite shop – we did a retail “half black / half clear” edition thats out there somewhere but I’m mostly just stoked all of these found homes so quickly.

Ghoul “Live in the Flesh” 2xLP / CD / VHS – Originally intended to just be a VHS release, once I heard the final mix/master I proposed we do a sick double album and it’s a ripper. The best way to describe it is “like a greatest hits album just played a lot faster and sloppier but also recorded shittier” haha I love a band like Ghoul where I can drop a description like that but its true – this album is a lot of fun, a must have for a Ghoulunatic. Just getting started with Ghoul? Start with the albums. This release is a one time pressing – we have some killer “Half Highlighter” vinyl in out store or you can snag a “Highlighter” copy we made for retail only from your favorite shop.

Fucked Up “Year of the Horse” 2xLP / 2xCD – At this point you can’t really say anything is unexpected from this band. No fan of Fucked Up was shocked to learn they had taken 5 years to make one song that is 100 minutes long. No fan of Fucked Up was surprised when this one song play like a full length album and a massive adventure both in the story and sonically. The band began releasing pieces of the audio back in February and we got the vinyl into stores and collections just a few weeks back. We just got all the “overs” counted in so you can find a few different vinyl variants in the store now while they last. Hit your favorite shop for a copy of the retail edition, White vinyl in North Amercia and Mustard vinyl in EU.

Thanks again, next year will be 20 fucking years since our first release, the Deadfall s/t 7″ came out on Controlled by Plague records – was handed to me to take the wheel which then morfed into my own Tankcrimes a few years later. It’s been a manic ride and I’ve loved it all (mostly). It’s remakable how many of you have been following for so long. I’ll keep at it as long for as long as I have your support.

2022? I’ll be keeping this info off social media until the time is right but for my email list subscribers I can give you a taste.

OVENS (Power Pop, Tony Molina)
BAT (Motorcharged Speed Metal Punk)
ESCUELA GRIND (Grind, PV, DM, HC Punk)
FUCKED UP (???)
MORBIKON – brand new band I’m absolutely thrilled about – will be one of the biggest Metal releases of the year mark my words.
