Metallized hardcore act CULT LEADER (ex-GAZA) have visited Audiotree for a great live session, available for your viewing pleasure below. The band’s second album A Patient Man is out now via Deathwish Inc.!

Cult Leader is an SLC hardcore punk quartet formed in 2013 after the breakup of three members’ former band Gaza. They soon signed with Deathwish Inc and released an EP plus two full lengths through the iconic taste-making label. Though relative newcomers to the scene, Cult Leader has quickly gained a reputation for their savage, breathtaking sound and extreme live shows.

A Sense Of Rest is the impending new full-length from Seattle-based post-hardcore/noise rock trio GREAT FALLS, featuring within its ranks former members of Undertow, Nineironspitfire, Kiss It Goodbye, Playing Enemy, and Jesu. Available now via Corpse Flower Records, A Sense Of Rest thrusts forth eight psalms of restless energy centered on death, family, art, and immortality.

On the eve of its release, Revolver is offering up an exclusive full stream of the record noting,

“Though expectations of adventurous, imposing hardcore feats with tinges of metal are to be expected, it’s also the sort of band that defies conventional wisdom of what hardcore can accomplish, venturing into post-metal-isms and sludgy slash and burn. It’s the sort of band that’s a calling card for the in the know, and if there is justice in this world A Sense of Rest will rock on loop and teach these young whipper-snappers a thing or two.”

GREAT FALLS’ A Sense Of Rest was recorded and mixed by Scott Evans (Kowloon Walled City, Forn, Ghoul, Minsk) at Red Room in Seattle and Antisleep Audio in Oakland with additional recording by Tad Doyle (Tad, Hog Molly, Brothers Of The Sonic Cloth) at Witch Ape Studios in Seattle, mastered by Carl Saff (Fu Manchu, Rosetta, KEN mode, Child Bite) at Saff Mastering in Chicago, and comes shrouded in the engrossing artwork of alternative comics illustrator Farel Dalrymple.

The record will be released digitally and on limited edition 2xLP December 21st in the US via Corpse Flower Records. The LP will be available in three color variants: smoke, white with green and grey splatter and standard black with Throatruiner handling the European release.

Illustrator, designer, musician, instructor, and letterpress printer Demian Johnston spent his formative years playing bass in legendary hardcore band Undertow before moving to guitar to form Nineironspitfire and later join hardcore icons Kiss It Goodbye. When Kiss It Goodbye disbanded, three-fourths of the band resurrected Playing Enemy, with Johnston additionally taking on vocal duties. In 2001, Shane Mehling joined on bass. By 2006, the band had run its course and Mehling and Johnston spent a few years pursuing more experimental noise in a project called Hemingway. Four years later, Hemingway changed its name to GREAT FALLS, recruiting Phil Petrocelli, who had previously played with outfits such as Jesu and Jarboe, on drums.

GREAT FALLS’ debut full-length, Accidents Grotesque, was released in 2013 by Irish label Hell Comes Home, followed by The Fever Shed, release in 2015 via Init Records. Said Bearded Gentlemen Music accurately of the band’s output, “GREAT FALLS produce some abrasive metal/noise gold. It isn’t for the faint of heart.” The Sludgelord concurred, “Right from the first note of ‘Dressing The Saints,’ there is nowhere to hide as the band assault the listener with an abrasive opening salvo of shards of metallic noise. Even when the volume dips during sparse minimal sections, there is always a taut menace to the proceedings which feels like it could give way to chaos at any second.” Additionally, GREAT FALLS has released a host of EPs and splits with the likes of Thou, Dephosphorus, Heiress, Throat, and The Great Sabatini, the latter of which is set for release in the coming weeks.

“…an abrasive and jarring power punch to the ears…” – Decibel

“…a great album for anyone who’s, you know, a little dissatisfied with the world, or for someone like me trying to reconcile an angsty teenage mindset with a 32-year-old life and finding it increasingly difficult.” — Toilet Ov Hell

“…a harrowing and yet beautiful piece that needs to be heard.” — Ghost Cult

“GREAT FALLS’ A Sense Of Rest will rip listeners in half and crush the remains into bits. This doomed, anxiety-ridden tour de force proves to be the band’s finest achievement to date.” — Svbterranean

“…this track will swallow you whole, puree your brain, and crunch your bones to get at the marrow.” — No Clean Singing On “The Accelerationist”

The new COARSE video, “Hoax,” has made its premiere via Revolver (watch below). COARSE is the bicoastal duo of Ryan Knowles (ex-Capsize) and Brandon Gallagher (ex-Old Wounds). The “Hoax” video is an ultra-harsh, VHS-nightmare of urban decay, created by Coarse drummer Brandon Gallagher and Sam Gursky.

Revolver describes the sound as

“rough and tumble, violent and furious, owing a debt to noisy, acrobatic hardcore heroes such as Botch while breaking into furious Crossed Out–style blasting hatred…”

The band’s debut EP, I, is out now and can be grabbed via this location.

Coarse tours Japan in March, followed by an appearance at Groezrock in Belgium.

Swedish metallic hardcore band SNAKE TONGUE (featured on IDIOTEQ earlier this year) have unveiled a new track called “Derailed”, coming off of their new EP “No Escape No Excuse”, to be released in mid-February next year.

Snake Tongue have since the release of the debut album “Raptors Breath” done countless shows, toured Europe and Mexico and shared stages with bands as Massacre68, Doomriders, Coliseum, All Pigs Must Die and more. With the No Escape – No Excuse EP the band wanted to have a more rough and dirty sound than the quite polished debut Raptors Breath. They entered the studio with Seth Norder (Witchery, Nekrokraft) as producer to get the right darkness. Again Brad Boatright (Audiosiege) did the mastering. The dark and harsh lyrics of the EP reflects a reality/society in decline, but also calls for action, resistance and reflection.

Polish death metal masters DECAPITATED have parted ways with drummer Michal Lysejko and detailed their upcoming live dates through the message below.

Although we finished 2018 completely tired, we are happy.

We would not have been able to end this year on such a positive note without you – our fans, our families & friends, our labels Nuclear Blast and Mystic Production, and our booking agents. Everyone gave their best to help us on this journey and we have given our everything not to let anyone down.

It was a totally new & stressful experience for us: To pick up our instruments again, return to the stage, and play this music that we love. What we got back in return from all of you was worth it. What an incredible feeling.

This also marks Michal’s last year with us. We would like to thank him for his friendship, his huge support, and his hard work as the drummer for DECAPITATED. We wish him well on his new path. All the best, BROTHER!

We will take some time before we find and announce our new drummer. Until then, our friend James Stewart (Vader) will join us as a session drummer. Luckily, he found some free time between VADER shows and is able to play some selected live shows. You will all experience his talents soon.

The start of our 2019 tour, Killing The European Cult, will arrive shortly, and I hope to see you there, headbanging and sweating along with us. We are going to prepare a special set for these live shows which I hope will satisfy you all. More shows & festival appearances are still to be announced because we are truly hungry to play more and more.

We thank you sincerely for your continuing loyalty, support, and goodwill.

See you on the road in 2019!
