‘Lluvia’ – violent, emotional screamo act DREI AFFEN premiere new video!

2 mins read

I’ve been a fan of DREI AFFEN‘s emotional, intense, and thought-provoking art for the last 2 years and have incorporated their work into IDIOTEQ online dialogue on a variety of occasions. Today, I’m stoked to give you thbe band’s new music video for the track ‘Lluvia’, coming from their recent excellent split with COMA REGALIA, out now via a Adorno (UK), Dasein (Denmark), Dingleberry (Germany), Discos Finu (Spain), Krimskramz (Spain, see our interview HERE), Middle-Man (USA), Miss The Stars (Germany), Muerte Matar (Spain), Pifia (Spain / Germany), Producciones Tudancas (Spain),  Tim Tam (Germany), and Zegema Beach (Canada). The new track fits so well into the belief that the path we are now on leads to the collapse of humanity as we know it. The possible destruction of Earth’s capacity to support life, selfish reasons fuleded human relationships, disposal and instrumentalization of animals. With their new track and video, DREI AFFEN come in search of a human pathway to more ecological and compassionate society. Here’s what they had to say about the lyrical content behind the track:

The fight against any change or belief, specially if its away from the stipulated canons of consumption and property over things, and specially over animals, begins at home.
The effort that takes to get rid of all the things we get in our heads during our life is another fight that starts somehow inside of you which is accompanied with having to row upstream.

The reward to that effort, is a feeling produced by knowing that you don’t want to live, or eat, at the expense of the suffering, or the life, of others.

Not only in your dish but also in your heart.

Cover design by Rodrigo Almanegra. Video by Dani Rato from “Rest in Tezla“.

The band further ellaborated on the split release:

This split arose during the Miss The Stars Fest in 2017, where Coma Regalia and Drei Affen played. We already knew Shawn Decker because he helped us releasing cassettes from our first EP via Middle Man Records and we always have enjoyed his DIY attitude and moral principles.

In addition, Coma Regalia is a great band we already listened before Drei Affen was formed so it’s so exciting for us to share with them these songs

‘Lluvia’ Lyrics:

me alumbra tu sonrisa.

‘Lluvia’ Lyrics – English translation:

I fight with all my strength.
I fight in the opposite direction.
The wind hits my face.
Cold freezes my soul.

Swept away by the waves and the storm.

I go where the current force feels,
swept away by waves and the storm.

Swimming against the wind,
with the taste of fear,
knowing that at the end of the day
your smile enlightens me.

Alone in the storm,
alone in the immensity of the ocean,
alone against the wind.

I fight with all my strength.
I fight in the opposite direction.
The wind hits my face.
Cold freezes my soul.

There is no wave so high, that let me go back.
Where the rain ceases, your smile enlightens me.
