Melodic hardcore pack STAND STILL shows love to the Long Island music scene with “In My Blood”

2 mins read

Stand Still is set to make a splash with their debut full-length album, “Steps Ascending,” dropping June 14th via DAZE. This album showcases ten tracks of emotionally charged melodic hardcore, perfectly capturing the band’s essence.

The anticipation has been building with singles like “In the Dying Light of a Setting Sun,” “Mysticism,” and the title track “Steps Ascending.” Their latest single, “In My Blood,” is a heartfelt anthem that celebrates the bonds of family and community within the music scene.

The video for “In My Blood,” directed by Tom Flynn, takes viewers inside a legendary Long Island home that has hosted countless monumental moments in the local music scene, including TAKING BACK SUNDAY’s “S’old” video.

It’s a high-energy tribute featuring stage dives and sing-alongs, with cameos from Long Island hardcore heavyweights like PAIN OF TRUTH, KOYO, BACKTRACK, KING NINE, and VICTORY GARDEN.

Gerry Windus, the band’s vocalist, reflects on the personal roots of their music: “My family is the reason I’m so invested in music. My dad played in bands his whole life and taught me how to play guitar and sing at an early age. My sister was going to LIHC shows while I was still picking my nose and riding my bike. Without them, I wouldn’t be doing what I’m doing today without a doubt.”

Formed in 2020, Stand Still quickly made their mark with the 2021 EP “A Practice In Patience,” followed by the acclaimed “In A Moment’s Notice” in 2022.

For “Steps Ascending,” the band dedicated over a year to perfecting the album at Silver Bullet Studios with Greg Thomas, before having it mastered by Kris Crummett at Interlace Audio. The result is a collection of songs with bright, intricate structures, moody lyrics, and powerful breakdowns that are sure to resonate live.

Stand Still has already shared the stage with the likes of PAIN OF TRUTH, DRAIN, KOYO, GORILLA BISCUITS, SILENT MAJORITY, INCENDIARY, and RESTRAINING ORDER. Their upcoming tour promises to be equally exciting, with shows lined up alongside MONTCLAIR, HEAVYHEX, SOUL BLIND, and ASKYBLACK.
