Post hardcore act OAKHANDS share new video “For Monty”

1 min read

Oakhands return with “For Monty,” a track pulled from their 2023 EP A Circle With Many Centers, released via This Charming Man Records. The Munich-based post-hardcore/math-pop band pairs the song with a visually unsettling new video that leans into themes of loss, identity, and the search for meaning.

The video, directed and edited by Jussi, drifts into surrealist territory, following a hybrid creature—part human, part animal—moving through a forest in a state of disorientation and longing.

The imagery in “For Monty” doesn’t play it straight. The band cites The Elephant Man as a reference point, channeling its themes of alienation and the struggle between human vulnerability and outside control.

The forest acts as a symbolic space, shifting between isolation and guidance. Oakhands position themselves as both observers and silent manipulators, interacting with the creature in gestures that offer structure, rhythm, and fleeting moments of care.

The band elaborates: “We tried to capture the universal exploration of human fragility and resilience in our song and video. As always: we’d be delighted if you shared your thoughts, not in a ‘this is good / this is shite’ way but more of: what’s your association? What kind of feeling does the video and song evoke? Let us know!”

Oakhands are set to hit the road with upcoming shows, including a slot at Munich’s Rites of Spring Fest alongside PG99, Øjne, and Blind Girls.

Upcoming Dates:

29.01 Munich – Backstage (w/ Touche Amore)
28.02 Jena – Café Wagner
01.03 Wolfsburg – tba
12.04 Munich – Rites of Spring Fest (w/ PG99, Øjne, Blind Girls & more)
