Recall: THE FIRST STEP live in Lemoyne, PA, 2008

1 min read

00s youth crew hardcore band THE FIRST STEP (Rivalry Records) played at the packed Champion Ship Records in Lemoyne, PA on September 6th, 2008, and hate5six has a great video documenting that night! Passion, power, intensity, and great lyrical themes – it’s all here. Watch above and share!

What We Know (2006) CD/LP description by Rivalry Records:

The urgency and intensity of YOUTH OF TODAY, the positive delivery of INSTED, and a strongly rooted foundation in old D.C. and Orange County hardcore – THE FIRST STEP’s first official full length release, “WHAT WE KNOW”, picks up where they left off on the “Open Hearts and Clear Minds” EP, meanwhile adding some new flavor to their sound along the way. Produced by Walter Schreifels (Gorilla Biscuits, Youth Of Today, Quicksand, Rival Schools), the album explodes with speed and a blistering vocal delivery, delivering much of what we’ve come to expect from TFS: honest, thought-provoking hardcore. Though this time around, there’s something new in the mix. Whether it’s a Dischord-esque guitar riff reminiscent of MINOR THREAT, a bouncing rhythm ala BAD BRAINS, or a driving beat and harmonizing vocals like those of UNIFORM CHOICE, this album has undeniably fused the old TFS with a new power, creating something very, very special. To put it simply, this album grabs you, it speaks to you, it demands your attention. Many may say it, but few actually deliver – this record is destined to take its place among the most classic of hardcore records. The music, the message: it has returned.
