80s oi! punk infused act DEAD HERO from Bogota, Colombia released a demo tape titled Seguimos En Pie (We’re Still Standing) in 2015 and followed it later that year with the Antisocial 12″ which was a split album with fellow Bogota band Secta (with whom they share several members). Earlier this month they returned to self release a cassette album titled La Vida Continua (Life Goes On). With excellent female vocals courtesy of Paula Suarez and more than able backing from Daniel Puentes (guitar), Luigi Ortiz (bass) and Santiago Gonzalez (drums) this is a release you should definitely check out. Listen below and grab it via Sabotage Records.

Doom/sludge act THE BODY and fierce metal/hardcore hybrid FULL OF HELL have dropped a new music video in support of their new collaborative album. Watch “Farewell, Man“ below ogether the pair will release their new effort, “Ascending A Mountain Of Heavy Light“, on November 17th through Thrill Jockey Records. “Farewell, Man” is from the upcoming album ‘Ascending a Mountain of Heavy Light’ by The Body & Full of Hell, set for release November 17, 2017 on Thrill Jockey Records

As Translation Loss Records prepares for this Friday’s release of Cutting Pieces, the immersive third LP by New York City experimental/noise metal collective, GNAW, the entire album is exclusively streaming early at Invisible Oranges and below. GNAW, containing members/alumni of Khanate, OLD, Enos Slaughter, Ike Yard, Insect Ark, and more, employs an extensive arsenal of instrumentation on Cutting Pieces, with guitars, bass, drums, voice, lap steel guitar, Chinese cello, Weevil, conga, sawed off Kramer, Drone Thing oscillator, Alto sax, homemade light oscillator, micro cassette recorder, chain link fence, a small child, 2002 Toshiba laptop, voice dictator and space bar, and more infused into the madness.

“Like a film that relies on its wits and invisibility, GNAW is a band that requires some attention; they’re not going for asshole guitar solos and blast beats from Uranus, they’re seeking for what’s behind the tactile, impulsive, and cheap,” Invisible Oranges’ intense write-up of the album includes. “Cutting Pieces is as tasteful as that first Khanate record I listened to some sixteen fucking years ago. It’s about the side scenes, the corner dimensions, and the buzz that’s behind the wailing. It’s about noise, about power, and about creating a sense of hope within the darkness. The record’s shadowy but it’s really about the light. It reminds you that you actually haven’t wasted all these years listening to heavy music. There are still artists out there disguised behind genre tags and stupid metal tee shirts that stretch beyond: artists that are up front in their aggression and know that the difference between banging a pot and shredding an axe, is really about the story you’re telling; even if it’s about a story that might not make any sense at all: in other words, it’s a perfect memory.”

I.Corrupt.Records are repressing the s/t album by the German instrumental post-rock outfit KOKOMO on vinyl. North American straightedge/vegan hardcore/crust outfit SECT — featuring scene lifers hailing from Cursed, Left For Dead, Catharsis, Undying, Earth Crisis, The Path Of Resistance, Day Of Suffering, Racetraitor, and more — has issued the devastating “Open Grave,” the lead track their impending second album, No Cure For Death. The new song is now playing at Exclaim! Magazine and below as the LP nears November release through Southern Lord.

No Cure For Death was recorded with Kurt Ballou at GodCity Studios and mastered by Alan Douches at West West Side Music. SECT vocalist Chris Colohan explains that the new “Open Grave” single is, “a song about how we got to this point in history, how detached from consequence and oblivious to the removal of our most basic mental if not social, political or ecological safety nets we had to become to allow for the assault on reality we’re living out now to succeed. How the bar for what’s acceptable and what’s normalized just drops in free fall while we’re zoned out by the endless barrage of trivial amusements, and the fatal implications of that caliber of apathy not just for the West but civilization across the board.

Comprised of an international cast of scene veterans, who cut their teeth in that formative moment of political, cynical, antagonistic extremes, SECT unites vocalist Chris Colohan (Cursed, Burning Love, Left For Dead), guitarists James Chang (Catharsis, Undying) and Scott Crouse (Earth Crisis, The Path Of Resistance), bassist Steve Hart (Day Of Suffering), and drummer Andy Hurley (Racetraitor, Fall Out Boy, The Damned Things). The result of these musicians’ alignment is a caustic, riotous, belligerent style of vile hardcore fed by a boundless well of socio-political vitriol.

SECT gets right down to the blast beats and breakdowns that fight it out in their chaotic jams. They cut the shit and go for the throat with no time to waste, “because the Orwellian police states and irreparable social and ecological disasters we once saw off on the horizon are now on our front doorsteps, in full swing. And in just such a volatile, precarious moment as this for civilization, there is more reason than ever to keep lashing out at a world more suicidally-bent on its own destruction and the exploitation of people, species and the ecosystem itself, than perhaps ever before in history.”

Triple B Records has unveiled the full stream of the newest record from Florida thrash hardcore punk act UNIFIED RIGHT called ‘If I Can’t Listen to UNIFIED RIGHT in Heaven Then Send Me Straight to Hell’. Check it out below and listen to their debut record HERE.

“The soundtrack to the reality of our human condition. Beyond a statement; a demand and a mission. Cutting all ties with the American dream, everything is not peaches and cream.”

Exclaim! magazine has shared the new sinister AXIS track, Ravine, off of the album “Shift” – available November 10th on Good Fight Music.

Out November 10th on Good Fight Music, Shift sees Axis in a state of transformation: stripped down from a 5-piece band to a quartet, its metallic attack is broadening into something more dynamic and cathartic, thanks to new inspiration found in bands like Harkonen, Cult of Luna, and Shellac. Shift is an exciting progression from one of the most compelling of the young, heavy hardcore bands out today.

Before Shift, there was Axis’ 2015 debut full-length, Show Your Greed, which inspired Stereogum to describe the band as rightful heirs to ’90s heroes Botch and Kiss It Goodbye. An all-out assault, Show Your Greed pummeled and bruised, and Axis took its show on the road with bands like Old Wounds and Homewrecker.

Rather than trying to top the tooth-gnashing of Show Your Greed, Axis then took a left-turn in 2016 and teamed up with adventurous Memphis trio Seraph/The Light to create a collaborative EP which saw the two bands merge into one unholy mega-church, pounding out a slower, crushing vibe inspired by Neurosis and Cult of Luna.

Upcoming new album Shift is the culmination of all this recent history, taking the bark and bite of Show Your Greed and boosting it with lessons learned from the Seraph/The Light experiment – namely, a thicker, more massive sound, and a masterful wielding of tension via the interplay of guitarists Dylan Downey and Patrick Chumley.

Alt indie rockers CASPER SKULLS are streaming their debut LP Mercy Works via CBC’s First Play, ahead of its release on Buzz Records on November 3rd. The follow up to their Lips & Skull EP, the album sees the band make good on their early promise, constituting a collection of songs that approaches a broad collection of influences with a discerning ear and a fierce intensity, creating a sound that CBC describes as one “that manages to transcend it’s guitar rock roots.” LISTEN: Stream Mercy Works “Primeval” on CBC First Play!

WHIMM’s debut album ‘A Stare Ajar’ is now streaming in full before it’s released by Pleasence Records on October 27th. The atmospheric post punks are going on tour in November for some dates with bands like Pop. 1280, Ice Cream, Deliluh, and their Pleasence Records labelmates Blonde Elvis.

While bottling the band’s frantic energy, these recordings also add new dimensions to WHIMM’s musical landscape, expanding their instrumental palette with violin, piano, and cello from members of Toronto groups HSY, Scott Hardware, and visual artist Olenka Syzmonski. The album draws on influences ranging from Southern Gothic country, as heard on cinematic opener “Ember in the Wheat”, to the uncompromising experimentation of late period Scott Walker.

Lyrically, the record is refracted through multiple fields of vision, gazing at a splintered world through the eyes of the displaced. Perspectives range from an immigrant office worker forced to assimilate to their environment (“Ushers”) to an H.P. Lovecraft-ian haunted soul struck and captured by horrific apparitions (“A Stare Ajar”). Chami penned these character studies while pulling from the stories of his family and his own experiences as a Palestinian living in Canada, wrestling with internal conflicts while feeling trapped between worlds.

Heavy Hearts is comprised of a handful of Canada’s best rock and roll explorers. During a recent European run, our friend Paul McGuire of Obscenery Films traveled with the band and captured glimpses of what day-to-day life on the road is like for Cattle Decapitation and spoke with the members as they reflected on years of touring and what their future holds.

Having brought a synthesizer into the mix of their already cataclysmic rhythm section, “45 Horses” is full of intricate dynamics that captivate listeners, showing The Bronzed Chorus as more than just a band that doesn’t need lyrics, but a band that visualizes words and textures elegantly within their own songwriting process.”

Baltimore alt pop band DRMCTHR released the new music video for their single, “Blacked Out”, cooming from their debut full-length album, Hold Your Love, out November 17th via Darkshore Music Group, a fine, smooth offering that would surely please fans of emotive, indie alt rock. Containing 11-infectiously catchy tracks that were recorded at Valencia Recording and produced by DRMCTHR & Paul Leavitt, Hold Your Love is set for release on November 17, 2017. As a first-taste of what to expect from the album, “Apartment” is a brooding, heavy song about the trepidation you feel in a relationship. It’s that feeling of doubt, of being unsure if you’re wanted in that way. It’s that split second of fumbling over yourself and being so self-conscious, over-thinking the moment you should jump in. On today’s announcement, vocalist Chelsea Tyler states:

“We are very excited to finally share the first song, ‘Apartment,’ from our debut record with you and to announce our signing with Darkshore Music Group. Hold Your Love is a record that means everything to us and we couldn’t be more grateful to work with a group of people who have embraced this record and put everything they could into it.” – Chelsea Tyler

DRMCTHR has been turning heads with an atmospheric sound that falters the line between indie rock and pop with light-hearted shoegaze instrumentals that create a dreamy ambience. Consisting of Chelsea Tyler (vocals), Bryan Czap (guitar), Craig Perkins (bass), and Billy Wahler (drums), the band made their debut in December 2013 with the release of their first EP, Wonderlust. Produced at Mystery Ton Studios & Valencia Recording by Kenny Eaton, Paul Leavitt, & DRMCTHR, Wonderlust has garnered over 70,000 plays on Spotify. The band soon went on to play a variety of shows, sharing the stage with bands such as Spitalfield, Post Modern, Geoff Rickly, Aaron West & The Roaring Twenties, Rookie of the Year, Modern Chemistry, Owel, and more.
