British instrumental, progressive post rock / metal architects DIALECTS are streaming their new record Because Your Path Is Unlike Any Other, available on limited coloured vinyl via Through Love Records.

Since forming in 2013 they have toured extensively, with bands including: Mutiny on The Bounty, Solstafir, Waking Aida & Toska, as well as multitude of festival slots, such as: ArcTanGent, Damnation, Tramlines & Strange-forms.

Their debut release, 2015ā€™s ā€œLTKLTLā€™ received a wealth of positive reviews and announced Dialectsā€™ arrival on the UK Progressive scene.
Follow-up singe ā€œItā€™s Not a Ghost, Its Gravityā€ showcased the evolution of the band’s sound and paved the way for their biggest year to dateā€¦
2016 saw Dialects cross an ocean, to play a handful of showcase gigs at Torontoā€™s CMW festival, followed by an appearance on Chicagoā€™s prestigious ā€œAudiotree Liveā€™. They ended this run with their first US shows, including a sold out gig in Manhattan.

Another highlight of the year was recording debut album ā€œBecause Your Path is Unlike Any Otherā€ at legendary Scottish Studio, Chem 19. With producer Nick Lawrie (Vukovi, Prides) at the helm, Dialects recorded 10 songs, undoubtedly their most ambitious and accomplished body of work thus far.
Enlisting the mastering talents of acclaimed engineer Ed Woods (Reuben, Lonely The Brave) the album was complete.

April 2017 saw Dialects first vinyl release ā€“ double A-side single ā€œIllusory / When You Die, Youā€™re Truly Aloneā€ was released on rising UK label, Sunbird Records.

Big band / orchestral / surf punk experimentalists THE HOLY GASP have dropped a new weirdly amazing single Beat Wave. It’s the first song from their forthcoming LP, due early in 2018. The song features 17 (!) players, including Karen Ng (Andy Shauf, Feist and Broken Social Scene), Jessica Upton-Crowe (Beliefs), Nixon Boyd (Hollerado), and many other notable Toronto musicians.

This was the first song written for the album, and the first song written after frontman Benjamin Hackman’s divorce. His thoughts on that time below:

When my wife and I split up, I needed to make an extreme lifestyle change. I moved out to Toronto Island and started work on a new record. I started with Beat Wave. I was real depressed at the time. And real lonely, too. Most days I couldnā€™t get out of bed. Iā€™d lay there on my stinked-up sheets, weeping… wishing for my old life back… They were dark days indeed. I needed to write it out, to laugh at myself, and to take the edge off and find a way to cheer myself up. Divorce shocks the system bad, you know. It makes you ask a whole lotta questions about how youā€™re gonna live your life and who youā€™re gonna be in your post-married world. You set out to build a future with someone, and when you call it quits on a marriage, you call it quits on that future too. So you gotta rewrite yourself entirely.

NYC garage punk rockers THE ROYAL THEY are streaming new lovely named track ‘Sludgefucker’, coming from their new record ‘Foreign Being’, to be released on January 13, 2018 via King Pizza Records.

Buckle up cuz Brooklyn’s The Royal They are already kicking down the door with their sophomore LP ‘Foreign Being’ and it’s a monster of soaring vocal mania, off-kilter riffage, and more hooks than a tackle box.

Berlin’s fast, catchy, 80s tinged punks COLD LEATHER are streaming their new 7” record Past Remedy, avaiilable now via Sabotage Records.

Cedric Bixler-Zavala described AT THE DRIVE-IN‘s ā€œIncurably Innocentā€ as ā€œa song about sexual abuse and being able to finally speak outā€, implying it’s related to the sexual assault allegations against actor and longtime Scientologist Danny Masterson. GO HERE to see more details.

Crossover metallers RISE OF THE NORTHSTAR are currently hard at work on the follow-up to their hit debut Welcame. The band traveled all the way to New York and entered the Silver Cord Studio to record with Gojira’s very own Joe Duplantier.

Commented the band: “If touring in Japan was always our goal, making an album in New York, one of the most influential cities in the world, with Joe Duplantier producing, is one big challenge. We’re here to enhance our blend of metal and rap and to take it to the next level. Each corner of this town is a visual mirror of the thickness of our sound. We’re gonna soak in Brooklyn and sweat it back out on record.”

Added Duplantier: “I’m excited to contribute to this album. ROTN is badass. Their approach of music is so direct, and they drive their career the same way. Definitely a great experience for me.”

LA VIDA ES UN MUS DISCOS label has launched a stream of ‘It’s All Done By Mirrors’, the 1983 LP from British anarcho punk / folksy experimental rock band THE ASTRONAUTS, who were early touring partners of The Mob and Zounds from late 70s. Check it out below and go here to get more details.

The Astronauts second album Itā€™s All Done By Mirrors was originally released by All the Madmen in 1983 and finally gets reissued on vinyl for the first time. Original copies are now really sought after and on a lot of people’s wants lists due to both its scarcity and its status among outsider art, free music and weirdly enough peace punk fans. Itā€™s All Done by Mirrors is a stunning collection of explosive pop songs and traditional folk ballads and considered to be the pinnacle of the Astronauts recorded output. Itā€™s easy to hear and see why. Musically itā€™s tighter and more focused than on the debut album Peter Pan Hits the Suburbs and lyrically itā€™s on another level. From Mark Astronaut’s lyrical pen comes a woman dreaming of the Dorset coast whilst writing to her former lover (Seagull Mania); or the man on the street and his wife living out the final day before nuclear destruction (Typically English Day). Mark Astronaut really should been seen in the same light as Ray Davies from the Kinks with his observations of a time long gone. Three of the tracks feature legendary sax player Lol Coxhill. As with all Astronauts releases – totally under rated yet totally essential.

Original BLACK SABBATH drummer Bill Ward was hospitalized with heart problems. He cancelled a West Coast tour with his band DAY OF ERRORS.

Ward stated:

“I wound up in hospital this past weekend with heart problems. I am okay and in good recovery at this time. However, I’ve never experienced this particular type of heart problem before, and due to its nature, I had to make the decision to cancel the dates.

“I want to send my sincere apologies to everyone who was planning to come out to the shows. I’m so sorry we won’t be making it ā€” I was looking forward to seeing you all and sharing this music with you.

“I’ll be in touch soon.”

Sad emo alt rockers FUTURE TEENS have shared the full stream of their new excellent record Hard Feelings via their Bandcamp. The album came out September 29th via Take This To Heart Records.

Though standalone in itself, Bored and Alone is a precursor to the bandā€™s first full length effort, Hard Feelings. The album title encapsulates how each song toes the line between despair and humor. ā€œHaving feelings all the time is hard ā€” but everyone has them in one way or anotherā€” my goal with these songs was to write about things that happen to nearly everyone at some point in their livesā€ Radin explains.

Hard Feelings is out now via Take This to Heart Records features 10 tracks of romantic misadventure, miscommunication and mistakes. The album also features songwriting from Hoffman and Vadakin. Hoffman remarks, ā€œThese new songs are happy sad. Though some are sadder than others, singing them is always cathartic.ā€
