The song itself functions sort of like a Tarantino movie, merging homage and pastiche with the band’s own sensibilities to create something that is both familiar and nostalgic, yet contemporary and uniquely their own. / Noisey

Emo indie rock act TIGERS JAW has shared the official music video for “Escape Plan,” which is streaming below.

TIGERS JAW’s Ben Walsh remarked,

“’Escape Plan’ is a song about feeling stuck in your old ways, and trying to find the courage to make changes to your life. Earlier this year, when Josh Coll (director) and I were first talking about video concept ideas, I had to cancel a few calls because my grandfather passed away. That got him thinking about conversations he had with his grandfather before he passed. He remembered talking about technology and how our generation relies on it so much. The video focuses on the juxtaposition between these beautiful cinematic ‘real life’ scenes and the stark, sterile, inferior virtual reality that the characters seem to want to escape to. Hopefully it’s a reminder that the real world is beautiful and we should look up from our phones more often.”

The video, which was directed by Foxing’s Josh Coll along with John Komar, is a tragic portrayal of individuals relying on digital avatars to live their lives and form their experiences in a virtual reality. The viewer sees the loneliness and desires hiding by their headsets as their isolation from reality culminates in unbearable regret and heartache.
Next month TIGERS JAW are set to join Manchester Orchestra as direct support on Manchester Orchestra’s “A Black Mile To The Surface Tour.” Dates get underway September 5th in Orlando, FL with tickets on sale now. For tickets and more information visit, www.tigersjaw.com.

København, Denmark’s THE MONOLITHS release a new gritty, noisy, 80s punk inspired self-titled album. These guys are the sound of teeth chewing on gravel – a relentless and unwavering grinding machine spitting out noisy punk roars in your face, mouthful after mouthful. On their self-titled album debut James Deen Dragon, P. Lizzard and Colonel Dickhead are bolder than ever digging into doom inspired heaviness, chaotic and full throttle noisiness and brash, melodic 80’s punk. The album cuts to the bone like a ragged knife leaving a sharper edge and cleaner cut in the production on the 10 tracks produced by Morten Bjerggaard (Cola Freaks, Tumor Warlord) and mastered by Peter Peter.

After releasing their cassette tape debut ‘National Anthems’ back in 2013 and collaborating with Aarhus punks Fright Eye on a couple of split cassettes in 2015, the album debut sees the Copenhagen trio building upon the raw and dirty sound of their previous releases while managing to transgress the boundaries of traditional punk and noise territory.

Progressive/cinematic rock project ORISSA drops the title track from the upcoming album, Resurrection, due out November 3, 2017. Mixed by Sahaj Ticotin, (RA; Meytal Cohen; Adekain; September Mourning) and mastered by Paul Logus, (Stone Sour; Steel Panther; Shadows Fall) the LP showcases, “progressive metal that demonstrates remarkable mastery.” (Codifiers) Mastermind behind the project, David Dodini, graduated with honors from the San Francisco Conservatory of Music and completed his masters at the Biella Conservatory’s Scuola Niccolo Paganini in Biella, Italy. Orissa’s live band is a roster of NYC’s finest musicians from Trans Siberian Orchestra, Neal Morse Band, Stratospheerius, Book Of Mormon, Dyed In Grey, Haakons Fault, Emergence and Astronaut Down.

COMEBACK KICK release yet another promotional video in support of their new record “Outsider”, to be released on September 8th via Nuclear Blast! The band discuss the tracks on new effort below.

Philly’s blackened crust metal punks KRIEG release new record called “Bleak Passage”, featuring tracks released on limited lathe cut vinyl via Sineater Records, and “Songs for Resistance” 2017 cassette pressing via Foreign Sounds.

Dead Tank Records teams up with Boston’s LUNGLUST for a new EP called “War At Home”, a follow up to last year’s “Repetition is Hell”. This short offering contains four songs of pissed off grinding hardcore that deliver with an unsettling sense of urgency. For fans of TRAGEDY and WOLFBRIGADE.

Post punk / pop / emo rockers FLORAL PRINT release new song “Morning With Ophelia”, debut album, “Mirror Stages” out on Octber 20th vias Tiny Engines label.

After first meeting on a whim over Facebook, what started out as a chance occurrence between drummer Paul DeMerritt and singer/guitarist Nathan Springer (Narrator) sprouted into a continually exciting and unpredictable collaboration. The pair first started practicing and performing around Atlanta, GA in late 2014, and quickly started honing their penchant for dizzying song structures and erratic rhythms grounded in pop sensibilities. floral print’s debut EP woo, recorded with bassist George Pettis (100 Watt Horse) and producer Graham Tavel, showcased the band’s vibrant pastiche of psych-pop, early emo, ambient, and deconstructionist rock.

Following woo, the duo (rounded out by a rotating cast of bassists) embarked on numerous tours throughout the East coast and Midwest, making friends and tightening up their sonic communication skills. In summer 2016, floral print linked up again with Tavel to start recording their debut full-length, entitled mirror stages, at Broad Street Visitor’s Center in Downtown Atlanta. The tracks on mirror stages display a marked change in tone from woo, as glimmers of noise, distorted melancholy, and manic energy imbued their sound with more nuance and stylistic aberrations. floral print’s ability to defy genre convention sidesteps any feelings of forced technical showmanship as their mercurial sense of melody and rhythm is always couched in sincerity.

Following the recording of mirror stages, floral print rounded out its lineup with the addition of bassist Joshua Pittman as the band charts a new course for future tours and releases.

While detached and occasionally disorienting, Floral Print’s clamoring post-punk and experimental emo hybrid is rooted in delicate songwriting and quirky charm. Every bit of technical flash and unpredictable rhythmic shift is matched with elegant hooks and attention to detail. – Post-Trash
The kind of emo-rock/post-pop hybrid that rumbles away in the shadow before suddenly appearing in the forefront of everything; A delightful, agitated display from start-to-finish – Gold Flake Paint

From jazzy interludes to jangly indie pop in a single track…pointing to near-post rock levels of buildup and ambiance, without losing the frantic catchiness the band has perfected in its brief lifetime – Creative Loafing

They’ve got a mathy jazz lean in the sense that their off-kilter arrangements can be somewhat dense and obtuse, but it’s usually tempered by a melodic clarity that keeps their songs humming in your ears – Immersive Atlanta

Today, Toronto’s dreamy post punk act FAKE PALMS are premiering “I’m Not There,” the second single from their forthcoming full length, on Noisey. The album, which is entitled Pure Mind and will be out on Buzz Records and Pleasence Records on September 15th, was announced recently with lead single “Glass Walls,” a track described by Gold Flake Paint as “a dazzling display of songcraft” that blurred the lines between the blistering post-punk of the band’s earlier releases, and a new found melodic focus that in moments hinted towards psychedelia.

“I’m Not There” follows a similar trajectory, rapidly transitioning through disparate sections that are at turns pummeling and delicate, as chiming guitars and understated electronic flourishes (a hallmark of Holy Fuck’s Graham Walsh, who produced the album with Josh Korody and Fake Palm’s singer/guitarist Mike le Riche) cut through the buzzing haze of the band’s frenetic rhythm.

“A dream-pop band that plays with garage-punk aggression. Fake Palms has evolved from Michael le Riche’s bedroom recording project to a veritable underground supergroup.”
– Pitchfork

“Fake Palms is a study in contrasts: building pop hooks chewed up and spit out by a four-piece that utilizes charging, angular riffs and boatloads of fuzz and distortion to get their point across.”
-Noisey

Glass Walls is a dazzling display of song-craft, threading Women-esque guitar lines inside the band’s more synonymous glowing pop melodies.
GoldFlakePaint

“Fake Palms blend post-punk and pop to make fuzzy, melodic tunes worth blasting through your headphones while wandering your city late at night.
-FADER

“an expert infusion of post-punk textures with pop sensibilities”
-Stereogum

Toronto’s Fake Palms have long existed at an intersection. Their 2015 self-titled debut LP, released on Buzz Records, filtered pyrotechnically ambitious, high concept post-punk through a deliberately austere lo-fi haze, lending an eerie ethereality to a set of songs that were at once bruising and delicate – high and intricately detailed melodies informed by a sharp pop sensibility housed in a distorted and cacophonous swell of sound pushed into the red with a brooding intensity. However, despite it’s assuredness, the record, which drew praise from the likes of FADER, Stereogum, Noisey, and Pitchfork, who dubbed them a “veritable underground supergroup,” was a thrust into the unknown by a band that had only just formed at the time of its recording.

Alt indie rockers WALTER Etc. are now streaming their new album Gloom Cruise,in full via Bandcamp. The album is set to be released on August 25th via Lame-O Records and Lauren Records. Gloom Cruise was produced by Jeff Rosenstock (of Bomb The Music Industry) and mastered by Jack Shirley (Deafheaven, Joyce Manor). Pre-orders for the record are available now on vinyl via Lame-O Records and Lauren Records, and on cassette via Making New Enemies. Walter Etc. are on tour this fall, including dates with Diners and Slaughter Beach, Dog. A full list of dates can be found below.

Walter Etc. (formerly known as Walter Mitty and His Makeshift Orchestra) have been one of the embodiments of west coast DIY since their first release in 2009. The band, based in LA and Portland, has always played off of the juxtaposition between their sunny, upbeat musical and their poignant, occasionally dark lyricism. Recently the band has evolved into Walter Etc. adding eclectic instruments and broadening their range of genres. ‘Gloom Cruise’ is the first record released under this iteration.

Manic Kat Records has unveiled the new EP from New Jersey punk rockers CULT CLASSIC!

Cult Classic is a rock, punk, post hardcore band from parts of central New Jersey and New York. Pete, Rob and Joe formed Cult Classic after playing together in previous separate bands which released a few EPs, a full length and toured nationally. After playing a debut show at Gramercy Theater in NYC, Cult Classic went into the studio to record their debut EP entitled Resistance in the spring of 2017. This marks a milestone for all members as they call upon all their influences to record an explosive 5 song debut with both Pete and Rob sharing vocal duties. Resistance is set to drop August 2017 on Manic Kat Records.

Following UK tour dates with Straight Lines and The Hostiles and a handful of festival appearances (including a recent main stage homecoming show at Touchdown Festival alongside ROAM and Decade) Cumbrian punk rockers COLT 45 are pleased to reveal the video for their new single ‘One Way Home’. Alt post punk rockers METZ release new song “Mess of Wires”; new album Strange Peace coming on September 22nd on Sub Pop. Listen below and scroll down to see their live dates, as they will be touring extensively throughout North America and Europe, starting next month.

The band’s frontman Alex Edkins commented on the track:

“It’s a reminder to myself to speak out and say what I believe. To be honest with myself. It is common to feel that your thoughts are inconsequential, a drop in the echo-chamber, but silence can be worse. Speak out about what you believe in, loud and often. In the spirit of this song, I want to strongly condemn the violent and hateful actions of the white-supremacists and neo-nazis in Charlottesville, VA. this past week. Their vile attempts to incite division and fear through intimidation and violence have no place in this world.”

HUNDREDTH recently released their critically acclaimed full length, RARE, on Hopeless Records, making a dramatic sound change from aggressive hardcore to a dynamic blend of lush shoegaze and driving post-punk. After touring all summer in support of the record, Hundredth are now announcing a run of U.S. headlining shows for the Fall. The band will be joined by Gleemer, Tennis System, and Spotlights for support, see the full itinerary below.

Making RARE was a significant risk for Hundredth. The band had developed a large and loyal fanbase across three albums of pummeling metallic hardcore, but when it came time to write a new record they found themselves creatively stifled by the genre’s strict walls and faced with a self-imposed ultimatum: make a drastic change, or end the band. Never ones to shy away from a challenge, Hundredth dove headfirst into exploring the sonic freedom of putting it all on the line. RARE combines the band’s love of ’90s shoegaze and dream pop with post-punk grit and their instinctual heavier side to make a unique sound that pays tribute to Hundredth’s influences and past while boldly redefining their future.

Vicious death metal / metallic hardcore act IMPLORE release new song Untouchable Pyramid; new record Subjugate coming on September 22nd!

Los Angeles, CA’s punk rock act WRATHS are streaming the title track from their upcoming My Home EP, which is scheduled to be released through Bird Attack Records on September 29th. Listen to the song via Bandcamp below. The first single “My Home” will be available for download upon purchase, and physical pre-orders will be available starting September 15th.

Jim Lindberg of Wraths comments on the EP:

“Right after we finished our first album we just kept on writing and some pretty important themes made their way into the new songs. There is a huge debate raging in the South Bay right now about over development with a lot of the locals very concerned about what’s happening to the place where we grew up. Many of us feel the area is losing its soul to make room for big glossy corporate chains and big money grabs for developers instead of things our community really needs. Our song ‘My Home’ is a direct reflection of that frustration. ‘Trusted You’ is about the sickening pattern of abuse and denial going on in some religions, and ‘The Beat Goes On’ is about bullying at every level. I like that this new batch of songs challenges people to confront certain issues instead of sweeping them under the rug. We have no problem being the mouthpiece for that.”

Alberta punks, TRASHED AMBULANCE, are streaming a new single ”12 Inches of Christmas” off of their upcoming EP “Instant” being released on August 31st on Thousand Islands Records. Featuring 2 brand new songs, “Kooby” and “12 Inches Of Christmas”, along with three fully re-recorded tracks from their debut LP “Blurry Thoughts”, Instant is set to hit all digital platforms on August 31st via Thousand Islands Records.

Here’s what Jawsh and Shark had to say about ”12 Inches of Christmas”:

We were gonna cover a classic xmas song but Shawn decided he was gonna write a song for us. Then we all sat down and tried to top each others perversion. The end result was an instant holiday classic that I really hope my mom doesn’t hear. – Jawsh

When St. Nick shows up with a girthy present to put under her tree, Mommy is caught doing more than just kissing Santa Clause in this twist on a classic holiday theme. Best enjoyed while wearing your mistletoe belt buckle. – Shark

Brussels-based math-rock trio RINCE-DOIGT release new single Balle de Match. This song is part of their first (and last) album Croisière Annulée, that will be out on Luik Records on October 27. After three years of loops and complex rythms, the band will split up once the album’s out.

Playing instrumental music gives you soo much freedom. Like most of the songs from Croisière Annulée, Balle de Match was built from a picture, from a concept we wanted to set to music : « What if we built a song just like a Roland Garros final ? »

Rince-Doigt is a three-piece combo from Brussels inspired both by math-rock and post-rock. Riffs, loops and syncopated rhythms combine to build complex and exotic soundscapes. After more than fifty shows, a first EP (Plinth, 2016) and a victory at musical springboard Volta, Rince-Doigt decided to split up. To end on a high note, the band will however release its first (and last) album Croisière Annulée on October 27 through Luik Records.
