The suicide rate among young people has risen in recent years. It’s is the 2nd leading cause of death for adolescents in the US. Depression and anxiety are among the leading causes of illness and disability among adolescents. Suicide is the fourth leading cause of death among 15-19 year-olds worldwide. By asking our friends and family about distress and suicidal thoughts, we can offer support in these initial moments of internal struggle. Within the community, having open dialogues about mental health through can essentially raise awareness and help those in need.
