“We See You”: post metal act BREATHS premieres stirring anthem for the unseen, feat. Matt McGachy of Cryptopsy

In the world of music, new creations often land upon our ears like soft rain, subtly moistening our senses and ultimately becoming a part of the tapestry of our lives. Today, we are privileged to bring to you an exclusive premiere of a track that stands poised to make waves in this realm of musical expression. The song, aptly titled “We See You,” hails from the creative depths of the band Breaths, an emerging beacon in the constellation of experimental, doom and blackgaze infused post metal.

“We See You” is more than a mere compilation of notes and lyrics; it’s an earnest solace, a musical outreach to those who feel unseen and unheard. It’s a reminder to the invisible that they’re not alone, echoing the sentiment, “We all need to belong. We all need to be loved.” The song, in its poignant lyricism and melodic grandeur, connects to the existential human longing for connection, for understanding, and most of all, for companionship.

The track is particularly notable for featuring guest vocals from Matt McGachy, frontman of the renowned death metal band Cryptopsy. This collaboration, arising from a connection formed on McGachy’s podcast ‘Vox & Hops’, presents a unique fusion of styles that elevates the song’s overall impact. Breaths offers a distinct departure from McGachy’s usual fare, his powerful clean vocals weaving through the doom metal-leaning landscape of the song, creating a sense of unanticipated harmony that we can’t wait for you to experience.

“We See You” is from the forthcoming album ‘Floruit,’ which promises to be a ground-breaking endeavor from Breaths.

Slated for release on July 21 on Trepanation Recordings, the anticipation surrounding the album is nothing short of electric. What’s more, Breaths is finalizing a lineup for live performances set to take place later this year – a thrilling prospect for fans and newcomers alike.

Floruit, which means “a period of flourishing (as of a person or movement)” is Breaths’ third proper full-length album (excluding 2022’s instrumental ambient album, Isolera).

Floruit is a doomgaze soundtrack to the end of the world, a concept album based on the idea that all of humanity’s accomplishments throughout history have ultimately led to our demise and that of the planet on which we live.

“We continue to build, innovate, and exploit all of the planet’s resources, so much so that we have brought about our imminent destruction. Some feel that, at this point, there is no turning back, while others believe the Earth and humans can be saved. I suppose only time will tell, but as Floruit points out there is a choice to be made and action to be taken if we are to survive.” – comments Jason of Breaths.

Jason, isn’t just the creative force behind the evocative alt-metal soundscapes of Breaths. He’s a veritable fount of musical ingenuity, with an array of diverse projects echoing his multifaceted artistic talent. Those projects include:

Roseneath – post-hardcore/grungegaze/post-punk duo w/ debut album coming out June 16 on Thirty Something Records (vinyl) and Trepanation Recordings (CD & cassette).

Isolera – dark ambient/post-rock solo project, soundtracks to books I’m reading at any given time. 2 singles out now, with full EP based on Stephen King’s ‘Salem’s Lot’ in the works.

Somei – Heavy shoegaze solo project, debut single coming soon.

Kidz Mosh – easycore/pop-punk solo project, songs for kids and parents who want something more fun than your average kids song. First single out, working on more.

CHNNLR – art-prog-electro-pop/post-whatever duo. EP came out in 2020, with the occasional single release.
