Three and a helf years since the premiere of their self-titled LP here on IDIOTEQ, Bielefeld, Germany based hardcore punks WEAK TIES are back with a furious new LP dubbed “Find A Way”! Today, ahead of it sofficial release on March 12th on Contraszt! Records, we’re stoed togive you an early listen of the full thing and get your blood pumping!
Asked about the nature of the lyrics on the new album, Laura says that these are the most personal lyrics she has written so far: “It’s not that easy to sum it up shortly because the songs are about several experiences, emotions and thoughts. It’s about loosing grip, about pointing out the daily shit we’re struggling with, about dealing with it and fighting against it, for example in relation to capitalist and racist structures, patriarchy and so on. Finally, the lyrics are about the death of a person who was really close to me and it’s the biggest loss of my life so far. It’s about the process of trying to deal with it and about all the questions left behind. And it’s about not being alone, about solidarity and support, about keeping on going, somehow, in all this.”
Fizzel continues about the musical side of things: “This is the first record with Stefan on the drums. Sven left the band 2 years ago and with a different drummer you get a different vibe while writing songs. We always considered our music to be Punk but the new record is our most punkish record to date. It has less distortion, less blast beats but nevertheless shit loads of power! We are beyond happy about the final result.”
Recorded in June 2020 at Tonmeisterei Oldenburg by Henner Henzler and Roland Wiegner. Mixed and Mastered by Roland Wiegner. Cover photo by Daria Nikolaevna. Artwork by Joscha Bauer.
