Alternative and underground music podcasts are steadily gaining worldwide recognition from thousands of inspiring creators who live and breathe independent art and music. They can be educational and entertaining, plus give you great insight into artists or bands that you’re passionate about. Whether you’re a fan looking for some entertainment, a die hard scenester, or an artist looking for insights or advice, there is a podcast for everybody. Equal parts fascinating and addictive, quality podcasts can tell the stories behind the music and break down what’s behind the scenes.

No Time Records Podcast

So, the chances are if you’ve boughten a record in the last couple years you have heard of No Time Records. If you were not aware though they are not just a diy label they also have a fantastic podcast giving you a look at the daily struggles and triumphs of running their label. Based in Orange County California the two friends give you a deep look into what it took to put out prior records as well as put on shows and fests while also bringing on guests from bands they have worked with. A podcast worth listening to if you are interested in grindcore, powerviolence or any other form of extreme music. Check them out in the link below.

From The Pit Podcast

A great weekly podcast that covers every and any type of heavy music, hosted by four good friends out of New Jersey Frank, Phil, Sam and Mike. Each week these boys crack open some brews and review a healthy amount releases hand picked and then follow up with a lengthy discussion breaking down each album and giving insightful thoughts on why and how they felt what they felt, definitely recommend if you are interested in discovering a wide variety of new bands. Loose Meat

Possibly the most interesting show on this list Loose Meat is hosted by Cleveland Ohio’s own Elijah “Baby Chico” Horton and Toronto Canadas’ Alex “Horrible Noise” Stickley. The show covers and reviews random new releases each week ranging in all forms of extreme music from grindcore to punk to harsh noise to black metal while also sharing some of the wild stories from Eli and Alex from past tours and shows they have been on. The show also brings guests on including bands as well as important figures in the extreme music scene, definitely a show to check out if you would like to be introduced to new music or if you just want to hear the wild stories of their past either way check tout the link below as they are also available on Spotify and all other major podcasting sites.

Worship tribute nerd

This is a fantastic podcast hosted by Michael Rickshaw former guitarist for Iwrestledabearonce covering heavy music as well as movies, shows, art and comedy. As you see in the name the show revolves heavily around “nerd culture” so not only will you get music reviews and interviews from bands but also a healthy dosage of superhero, Pro wrestling and comic related material as well definitely a great listen I would encourage everyone to check out the links above.

The Mighty Decibel

Awesome podcast covers a wide array of heavy tunes, In February 2018 Chris founded The Mighty Decibel. His short term goal is a simple one – to spread his love of loud music with the public and to hopefully turn people onto new music.
