Eva Ras isn’t a stranger to our magazine’s pages. The prolific and daring Filip Stojiljkovic continues to deliver projects that challenge norms while maintaining his signature intensity. His latest EP, Exquisite Corpse Propaganda, released on November 20, 2024, is no exception—a four-track eruption of punk, black wave, and screamo that channels frustration into raw, bleak catharsis. Today, we’re honored to present a track-by-track commentary from the artist himself.
The EP reflects Stojiljkovic’s sharp, unfiltered perspective on societal decay and personal resilience. “This EP is a prelude to the big statement I’ve been working toward,” he explains. “It channels the chaos and frustration of living in a banana republic, particularly in the post-communist world. Press freedom, human rights, economic stability—everything’s eroding. And with the rise of far-right extremism, my writing practically demanded to happen.”

The EP’s cover art is as bold as its sound. A dove pierced by a sword—a striking symbol of peace under siege—sits at its center. Broken chains at the bottom reinforce the theme of defiance and the cost of freedom. “Freedom isn’t given; it’s fought for,” Stojiljkovic states. The visuals, like the music, balance beauty and destruction, creating a chaotic collage that mirrors our fractured world.
This EP serves as a milestone on the way to a full LP, which promises to dive even deeper into themes of resistance and societal decay. “The LP will expand on these ideas with a broader, more intricate narrative,” Stojiljkovic reveals. “I’m also working on creating immersive visuals and live performances that resonate with these works.” International shows are also on the horizon, as Stojiljkovic seeks to connect with audiences beyond Serbia.
Below, you’ll find Stojiljkovic’s full commentary on each track—a direct line to the ideas and emotions behind the music.
Doormat – This track serves as a tribute to anyone trying to escape their personal version of hell – be it political persecution, financial struggles, or social oppression – only to face rejection, mockery, and dehumanization when they seek refuge elsewhere. It’s an angry response to the arrogance and privilege of those who ignore the suffering of others, who’ve grown complacent in their own freedoms. The song stands in solidarity with those seeking better lives and serves as a direct “fuck you” to anyone who stands in their way.
Sve je u redu, vrati se u kovčeg (Everything’s alright, go back to your coffin) – This song is a critique of apathy. It’s about trying to make meaningful change in a society that often prefers to stay asleep—both figuratively and literally—while the world around them falls apart. The title speaks to the desire some people have to retreat into comfort zones, avoiding the hard truths and responsibilities of facing global crises head-on. It’s a wake-up call, a shake to the system, challenging people to leave their “coffins” and confront the reality they’re so eager to ignore.
Guiltive – This track targets the oppressive power structures that dominate our lives, embodied in authoritarian leaders who cling to power for decades. This song explores the helplessness that comes from living under their thumb, unable to escape the influence they wield. The track is a cathartic release of frustration toward these tyrants, expressing the powerlessness and fury of watching them grow stronger while ordinary people lose more ground.
Exquisite Corpse Circlejerk Propaganda – This one pulls no punches. It’s about the manipulation and gaslighting that happens in politics and media, where narratives are twisted and people are trapped in misinformation loops. The title itself evokes the absurdity of the political machine—a Frankenstein’s monster of propaganda created by disjointed, self-serving interests. Which is the reason why skepticism and critical thinking are important – even useful for calling out the power structures that exploit ignorance and fear to maintain control.
