Portland darkwave industrial metal duo AT THE HEART OF THE WORLD are streaming their new track “Golden Cross”, off their new EP, Rotting Forms, coming up on January 26 via Glory Kid Records. Despite sounding like they are cementing their status as the behemoths of the ominous sound, it’s actually their debut record, and that’s make it even more interesting. Dive into the new tune below and expect a full stream soon!

At the Heart of the World has emerged from the gloom of the Pacific Northwest to launch an all-out industrial assault against society. Their debut record, ROTTING FORMS, is a powerhouse of crushing riffs, raw synth tones, and the tortured cries of a soul displaced in this nightmarish modern world. Impossibly melding a simplicity of form with devastating sonic magnitude, ATHOTW’s minimalist philosophy only serves to amplify the intensity of their presence. Rotting Forms makes explicit promises to the listener and delivers on every one: purity of sound, clarity of message, and an unstoppable ferocity for every second of its runtime.

Veteran guitarist Danny Porter creates a landscape of crushing riffs, inescapable synth hooks and punishing digital beats akin to Godflesh and the early offerings of Mick Harris’s Scorn, while vocalist Joshua Green snarls out venomous incantations that are equal parts pain, hatred, frustration, and violence, in the vein of late 80s Ministry, or contemporaries like High-Functioning Flesh and Youth Code.

South East England’s HAUNTS are streaming their new EP ‘A Lack of Empathy’ on Truthseeker Music, along with a new video for their song ‘Creep Pulse’. They are a collective of musicians based in the south east of England which began life as a solo venture for ex-Human Future guitarist, Phillip Short. Over the course of recording this first EP, Phillip sought help from a range of musicians including some former Human Future members, most notably Kurt Phillips on drums and bassist Luke Booth who appears on the opening track ‘Creep Pulse’.

Initially released earlier this year independently by ROSETTA, Pelagic will be releasing the captivating release Utopioid on limited edition vinyl and CD. Secure your copy HERE and check out our recent interview with the band HERE.

Utopioid is the sixth full-length from Philadelphia’s ROSETTA. Written as a four-part song cycle that treads multipolar extremes of texture and dynamics, it reaches the highest heights and the deepest lows of the band’s career and serves as their most concept-driven work to date. An unflinching study of human aspiration, frailty, and betrayal, the album is equal parts mysticism and the band’s own biography, encapsulating and transcending their fourteen years of sonic experimentation.

German blackened crust metallers ANCST have laaunched pre-orders for their new record ‘ghosts of the timeless void‘, to be released on March 2nd on Lifeforce Records and Supreme Chaos Records.

Gold & black vinyl, CD, digital: http://smarturl.it/gottv_ancst
Limited green smoked vinyl (100 copies/ Lifeforce exclusive): http://smarturl.it/gottv_lfr
Limited red smoked vinyl (100 copies/ SCR exclusive): http://smarturl.it/gottv_scr
Limited gold vinyl (125 copies): http://smarturl.it/gottv_lfr

“What has started to move can no longer be stopped: Since its foundation in 2011, ANCST have proved tireless that they are the spearhead of a new wave of hardcore infused black metal coming out of Germany. With a row of releases on renowned underground labels such as Vendetta, Alerta Antifascista, Supreme Chaos or Halo Of Flies, including two albums and an array of EPs and split releases, as well as relentless touring, ANCST has proven their motivation. They want to make a difference – and they have something to say! ANCST want to wake their listeners and put their fingers into the wounds. Thus, “ghosts of the timeless void” has to sound as violent and disillusioning as it does. The band’s third album is a mirror of its surroundings and time and an elegy to a world on the verge of decline. While sporting both, a hardcore and a metal socialization, the self proclaimed collective from Berlin perfectly combines fierce melodic black metal and brutal but yet metallic hardcore crust with angry and critical social political lyrics. The unconditional implementation of their convictions, their sound and the emphasized DIY approach makes ANCST and “ghosts of the timesless void” seem so unique and strong.”

Irish instrumental post rockers And So I Watch You from Afar have teamed up with Lacada, a co-operative, community owned brewery on the North Coast of Ireland, who brew some of the best Irish beer. Lacada have a similar core philosophy of DIY self-sufficieny and had the idea to create a beer that encapsulated and complimented the songs on the new ASIWYFA album “The Endless Shimmering”, something that could be drank as you listened. A big fruity IPA would fit the bill perfectly (more notes below). ASIWYFA developed their own recipe with the master brewers at Lacada, and were there right through the process, from brew day to bottling and labelling the beer, and now its ready to be drank and so we give you, Three Triangles IPA and you can buy it here.

Confusion Specialist Records has revealed yet another intriguing record of an unknown experimental artist. This time we’re being acquainted with THE BILL AYERS UNDERGROUND, an enigmatic duo described by the label in the following message below.

We do not know where do they come from, what their names were and where to contact them. By the sounds of it, as simply followed: Minimal, pulse-like beats, menacing synths and ferocious raw vocals is as clearly enough for the us to get to know the duo.

The label’s newest addition to its extensive catalogue is CAPYBARA FUCKING PIRATE DESTROYER, a fierce, ear bending, synth licked, nintendo grind screamo, whose demo succeeds at all levels, takes all the boring, repetive parts out of technicality, and injects loads of scary hooks into one short demo release that you simply can’t miss if you’re fan of .

Hungarian metalcore quartet HARMED is streaming their debut EP, “From Day One”, one day before its worldwide digital release via Lambgoat magazine and below. Listen and go here to check out another new tune, premiered on IDIOTEQ a couple of months ago.

There’s no easy way to summarize the band’s sound, but here’s an attempt: the record is aggressive, energetic, fun to jam and makes you want to bounce off the walls while head-banging with the volume maxed out. You can get a taste of what you’re in for with their latest music video for Speechless/Deaf, or you can embark on your own journey and jump straight into the EP but either way, you won’t be disappointed. If you find yourself starving for more when the EP is done then don’t worry, as the band is already hard at work on a new album in between selling out debut shows, touring, and opening for bands such as Jinjer (Napalm Records).

HARMED also had some insight to share about their debut EP: “We’ve spent a little bit more than a year to create the first chapter of our story. From Day One is here to shed light on the dark side of any human being. This is about me, you and all of us. We are all Harmed From Day One!”

French drone / ambient / doom experimentalists DIRGE are streaming their new record “Alma Baltica”.

French post-metal outfit Dirge have been at it for a long time; 23 years, in fact, have passed since the release of their first demo, Infected Brain Machine. Now they prepare to issue their seventh disc, Alma | Baltica. A post-metal release that is truly epic in scope, Alma | Baltica is largely built on massive soundscapes and eerie flourishes. Though wordless, there is no doubt at the end of the album’s five songs that Dirge have told a story. / Decibel

While the references to their earlier work are occasionally enjoyable, it’s ultimately the tracks that deviate furthest from the bands past that are the most engaging. Alma | Baltica, is the product of a band hard at work redefining their sound and whilst the resultant record might not be a high-point of their catalog in itself, it does indicate both a willingness to experiment and a promising direction for future developmen / Echoes And Dust
