irish indie act ANNA’S ANCHOR premiere new single – watch new video here

1 min read

Irish singer-songwriter, ANNA’s ANCHOR, (interviewed for IDIOTEQ back in 2015) has announced the release of the first single from their upcoming album “The Merries”, set to be released on July 7th by Strange Brew Records. The new single, titled “Function Room Floor“, also features a brand-new music video which can be viewed above.

The vinyl for the album is set to go up for pre-order on April 7th and is limited to 500 copies. Fans who are interested in supporting the new chapter of A.A can do so by pre-ordering the vinyl on the official website. The first 50 orders will also receive a unique print of a 35mm photo taken by ANNA’s ANCHOR.

‘Function Room Floor’ looks back on teenage social awkwardness with a sweeping sound inspired by The National, Alex G, and Tycho. The insistent chord progressions play on a feeling of youthful yearning. Powerful percussion drives the song forward—especially on the outro—and shows off the talents of drummer Brian Scally (Ganglions).

In addition to the album release, ANNA’s ANCHOR will also be embarking on a tour as a full band for the first time in a long time. The tour dates are as follows:

13/07/23 – Workman’s Club Cellar – Dublin
14/07/23 – Debarra’s – Clonakilty
15/07/23 – Dolan’s Warehouse – Limerick

Comments Marty Ryan: “It’s the beginning of a new chapter for Anna’s Anchor. Today I finally get to share with you all the efforts that everyone involved with Anna’s Anchor has been working so hard on for the last year and a half. “Function Room Floor” is out now and is the first single off our fourth album “The Merries” which will be released on July 7th on Strange Brew Records. It’s such an honour to still be here after all this time and get to release music on a label that has released some of the best Irish music in recent years.”
