New NYHC band, Incendiary Device, is thrilled to announce their self-titled debut album, slated for release on November 10th through Bridge Nine Records. The ensemble, crafted by NYHC stalwart Drew Stone on vocals and Tristan D’Graves on bass, and completed by Shaun Brennan on guitar and Mike Flaherty on drums, brings a potent blend of early hardcore and classic punk, all while echoing the unmistakable essence of New York.
Stone and D’Graves, both seasoned musicians, have had a decade-long association, previously collaborating in renowned bands like Antidote and Drew Stone Hit Squad. Their latest venture, Incendiary Device, founded in 2022, debuts with the striking title track, “Incendiary Device.” Accompanied by an electrifying video, the song resonates with nostalgic undertones reminiscent of bands like Minor Threat and early Black Flag.
D’Graves, shedding light on the lyrics, explains the parallels drawn between the indiscriminate nature of warfare devices and the equally volatile realm of social media. The song was inspired by witnessing an innocent friend becoming an unintended casualty of online toxicity.
The 12-track album not only embodies the fervor of NYHC but also incorporates catchy songwriting, setting them apart in the genre. The themes explored in the album revolve around the juxtaposition of youthful exuberance against the backdrop of a tech-driven, middle-aged existence. The duo of D’Graves and Stone took the reins of production, with the album being engineered at Found Soundation Studios in Brooklyn and mixed by the talented Dan Korneff and Neal “Zum” Osteberg. Fans can preorder the album via Bridge Nine.
Having already graced stages alongside giants like Biohazard and Madball, Incendiary Device is gearing up for their record release event on November 12th at Bowery Electric, marking their entry in the club’s esteemed free Sunday Matinee series.
