TENACE serves an eclectic take on emotional post hardcore and screamo on poignant new EP

1 min read

Paris based emotional post hardcore / screamo band TENACE had already amply set the tone with their promising three tracks on the 2019 EP “Vestiges”, and today they’re finally ready to unveil the artifact of their evolution and growth: a captivating 8-track EP “Des Marques Sur Nos Mains”. Furious, frontal and authentic, and recorded live in a super organic manner (see their amazing new live session HERE), this noteworthy offering will surely please fine connoisseurs of the screamo scene, as well as newbies. Slated for a June 18th release through a whole bunch of cool labels (Itawak Records / Sleepy Dog Records / Nuisances Records / Yoyodynerecords / • smart and confused • / Jean Scene Creamers / Les disques Rabat-joie / Les Laboratoires de sons / Cloudsurf Records / Cœur sur toi / Callous Records / Missed Out Records), the album can be heart in its entirety below.

Tenace are 4 friends living in Paris and sharing the same passion for energetic and heavy music. The band started in 2017 with the ambition of being an active band in the local Parisian screamo / post hardcore scene. Their new EP was recorded live (except for vocals) at Le Chalet Studios with Sylvain Masure, a well-known recording and live engineer (FOH engineer for Mass Hysteria, Hangman’s Chair).

Asked about the content behind their lyrics, the lead singer Mateo commented: “I usually write from whatever inspires me, often readings, radio programs and podcasts I listen to. I usually talk about events I have been through and affect me. I already focused on themes like family relationships on the previous EP “Vestiges” as well as the alienation because of society pressure or from the fact that work makes us think too much about making a living and consume stuff.

I decided to write pretty much around the same topics for this new EP but also on life, death and the fact that time flies. I also talk about ecology supported by a political twist.

As a French white person, I always considered myself lucky to be born in the right environment.

I never really dared getting into politics and defending causes but now I feel like I am ready to do it freely. Let’s say that the next EP will be going that direction a bit more.”
