As Sweden’s rogue metal/hardcore faction BROKEN CROSS prepares for the release of its second full-length album, Militant Misanthrope, the LP’s first single has been deployed through an exclusive premiere of “C.O.T.E.” below.

Recorded at Studio Underjord in Norrköping, Sweden (Vanhelgd, Year Of The Goat, Griftegård), and mastered by Joel Grind (Toxic Holocaust), Militant Misanthrope is completed with drawings inspired by the 1980s/90s anime style and werewolf folklore, created by Dwid Hellion (Integrity).

Militant Misanthrope will see release on February 2nd, on LP with Apocalyptic Visions, on cassette via Judas Chair Collective, and on CD through Psychic Rebellion.

British alt hip hop experimental jazz rockers KING KRULE performed three of their new tracks at a special tiny gig for NPR called NPR Music Tiny Desk Concert

Bob Boilen — The Ooz, the title to King Krule’s latest album, is the perfect name for his music. It conjures, in my mind, a word mashup of “cool” and “jazz.” The music is eerily evocative with lyrics that talk about the sorts of depression singer and guitarist Archy Marshall has dealt with in his young life. And, at 23, he has a lot to say on the subject. His opening song at the Tiny Desk, “Midnight 01 (Deep Sea Diver),” includes the line, “Why’d you leave me? Because of my depression? / You used to complete me but I guess I learnt a lesson.” The song continues with water-sinking metaphors and how he deals with the pressure. All this comes from someone who honestly looks like he couldn’t care less, which seems like a far cry from the words and care he puts into his twisted, woozy tones.

Those tones are played here by five other musicians, including sax, guitars, bass, drums, live vocal processing of Archy’s voice and electronics. It’s a winning path down a musical road rarely traveled – and an acquired taste well worth dipping in.

Alvin is a party photographer. His controversial, taste-making site has brought fortune and fame to hundreds including the wild girls of the hit reality series “All F’s.” With a fiery, freshly broken heart, Al attempts to enact his vendetta against a former online-teen- heart-throb while struggling to gain the affection of disaffected socialite, Sky Monroe. In this millennial love story, filled with fast cars, pop stars, outrageous poseurs, lavish parties, golden guns, designer drugs and drag queens, dark Hollywood looms behind a blinding spotlight, directing all. Here celebrity is god, irreverence is revered, and obsession takes the wheel to run every red light in this pop fueled noir.
