In the dimly lit abyss of societal introspection, German post-metal grindcore outfit GRIND emerges with their latest offering, “Leviathan.” Premiering exclusively today, this haunting composition delves deep into the murky waters of human nature, exploring the age-old question of domination within social structures.
Drawing inspiration from the philosophical musings of Thomas Hobbes, “Leviathan” is a chilling reflection on the perpetual state of war that defines the human condition. With lyrics that echo the sentiments of Hobbes himself, the song paints a grim portrait of a world consumed by conflict, where walls are erected in the name of safety and blood is spilled to hasten growth.
“The arc is spanned from the idea of society as a containment of human instinctuality, as a withdrawal of individualism to strengthen the community, to an enlightened perspective guided by a moral imperative THINK FOR YOURSELF! IT IS UP TO YOU TO MAKE THIS WORLD A BETTER PLACE.” – says the band.
Amidst the chaos, GRIND beckons listeners to embrace a glimmer of hope, urging them to think for themselves and strive for a better world.
With a sonic palette that transcends traditional genre boundaries, the band’s music is a testament to their eclectic influences and unwavering commitment to authenticity.
Led by vocalist Jan Erner and propelled by the rhythmic precision of Ulf Diel on drums, GRIND is a force to be reckoned with.
With “Leviathan”, the band invites listeners to embark on a journey of self-discovery and societal reflection.
The band released their previous single, Hysteria, a couple of weeks back.
“HYSTERIA is about the domination of the medical apparatus over the hysterical woman at the end of the 19th century. Implicitly, therefore, about a male-dominated (sub)system of oppression of women. BUT THERE IS LIGHT FROM A WORD. A WORLD WHERE TRUTH IS REVEALED.” – says the band.
