“Seven Years” by SAOSIN gets a new cover by SEEYOUSPACECOWBOY

2 mins read

Emocore act SEEYOUSPACECOWBOY have shared their version of SAOSIN hit single “Seven Years”, originally released on their 2003 EP Translating the Name, one of the most important emotive, melodic post hardcore releases of the early 00s. The new cover track comes with a music video and is featured on the newest compilation from Pure Noise Records dubbed Dead Formats Vol. 1.

The album was curated as a way for fans to discover new, like minded bands, the same way legendary comps like Atticus’ Dragging The Lake, Punk O Rama, or the Vans Warped Tour Compilations did in the 90’s and 2000’s. It will be released on August 29th

Saosin will be playing When We Were Young Fest in Las Vegas this October!

“When we were asked to be a part of this comp the hardest part was picking a song we could do justice to”, says vocalist Connie Sgarbossa. “We settled on ‘Seven Years’ and it was a ton of fun to cover a song we all love and that is so incredibly influential. We also had the pleasure of getting together with our good friend Cameron Nunez on yet another video”.

“Brain Stew/Jaded” by Four Year Strong, “Fell In Love With A Girl” by LURK, “Inside Out” by Hawthorne Heights, “I’m The One” by Seaway, “Someday I Suppose” by Drug Church and “Santeria” by Microwave, can also be found on the compilation and are available for streaming now at lnk.to/deadformats.

“Dead Formats Volume 1” is now available pre-order on vinyl as well as a limited edition merch collaboration between Pure Noise Records and Pabst Blue Ribbon, which now includes a keychain bottle opener, can be found at: www.deadformats.net

Lyrics:

Taking on seven years
The holy ghost had left alone
Test my arms, kick like crazy
I’ve been trying way too long
Only push the way off to fight you
Now I’m sorry, I’m sorry, I’m not sure
Getting off my chest
The story ends
I would find a way without
Tell him his eyes see too clear
I would find a way without you
Tell him his eyes see too clear
That mistake was gold
I know that without you
It’s something that I could never do
That was why
Staple the eyes and
Seven dates for me to sell machines and tear on
Seven years you assured me
That I’d be fine if I complied
Only push the way off to fight you (only push the way off to fight you)
Now I’m sorry, I’m sorry, I’m not sure
Getting off my chest
The story ends
I would find a way without
Tell him his eyes see too clear
I would find a way without you
Tell him his eyes see too clear
That mistake was gold
And I know that without you
It’s something that I could never do
That was why staple the eyes and
Seven dates for me to sell machines and tear on
Don’t you say I’m to blame
Don’t treat me like I ever accused you
Don’t you say I’m to blame
Don’t treat me like I ever accused you
Don’t you say I’m to blame
Don’t treat me like I ever accused you
Don’t you say I’m to blame
Don’t treat me like I ever accused you
Don’t you say I’m to blame
Don’t treat me like I ever accused you
